LED Lighting Supply Commercial and Industrial Grade LED Flood Lights

Many flood lights are not commercial or industrial grade. Flood lights are a broad category of many products. They include lower-wattage consumer products designed to add lights around the home. That is not what we sell. We are a commercial floodlight supplier.

Some of our Industrial LED Flood Lights have marine-grade coatings to withstand saltwater environments. We also offer high-powered industrial high-power LED flood lights that you can configure to replace sports field lighting. Our experience shows that customers often need guidance in distinguishing between residential-grade and true commercial fixtures that can withstand demanding outdoor conditions.

What is the Best Beam Pattern for Commercial LED Flood Lighting?

LED Lighting Supply flood lights are very versatile, and a wide range of beam angles is available, providing many light patterns other than just "flood" beam patterns. Beam patterns from wide to very narrow are available. This means beam angles from as large as 120 degrees to as little as 10 degrees.

Flood lights are different from parking lot lights in that the latter offer Type 1 to Type 5 light distributions. These light distributions are not optimal for flood lighting.

Based on our experience, 60-degree beam angles are the most popular choice for outdoor flood applications, while wider angles work better for general area lighting. Beam Angles Beam Angle Examples

How Many LED Lumens Do You Need to Replace Metal Halide and Halogen Flood Lights?

It depends on the power of your existing flood lights. We can easily match and replace the lumen output of almost every standard halogen and metal halide bulb with a one-for-one LED equivalent light. The lumen output, although less with LED, will result in the same or better lighting because LED is a directional, high-quality light source. Based on our extensive replacement experience, here are some LED replacement guidelines to follow:

  • 250-Watt HID / Metal Halide: 9,000 - 12,000 lumens
  • 400-Watt HID / Metal Halide: 15,000 - 25,000 lumens
  • 1000-Watt HID / Metal Halide: 35,000 - 50,000 lumens
  • 1500-Watt + HID / Metal Halide: 50,000 - 90,000 lumens

Commercial LED Flood Light Specifications and Common Choices

Based on thousands of commercial installations, we've identified the most popular specifications that work best for different applications.

Color Temperatures are typically 4000K and 5000K. The most popular color temperature is 5000K, which is an excellent choice for metal halide replacement. 4000K is a slightly warmer version. If customers can't decide on color temperature, we recommend color-adjustable fixtures.

Beam angles can range from 15 degrees to 120 degrees. 60 degrees works well in lower mounting height applications. We know that as the height goes up, the beam angle decreases.

We offer voltage options from 100V to 480V. Let us know your voltage, and we will make sure you are equipped with the right driver for your application.

We help customers determine if they need motion sensors for indoor applications and photocells for outdoor installations. We carry all common mounting options for both indoor and outdoor fixtures and can match existing mounting systems.

An important advantage of LED conversion is that LED lights will reduce the amp load on existing electrical infrastructure. This means there's typically no need to upgrade electrical panels during conversion projects.

Energy Savings and Maintenance Cost Reduction

Our commercial LED flood lights deliver substantial operational savings through both energy efficiency and reduced maintenance requirements. Customers typically see 60-70% energy savings compared to traditional HID and metal halide systems. The directional nature of LED light means more lumens reach the target area with less waste.

Maintenance cost reductions are equally impressive, with customers experiencing 75% lower maintenance costs over the fixture lifetime. Our commercial flood lights are designed for 10+ years of reliable operation with minimal maintenance requirements. This eliminates the frequent bulb replacements and ballast failures common with traditional lighting systems.

LED Flood Lights FAQ

What are LED Flood Lights?

An LED Flood Light is a pole-mounted, wall-mounted flood light, or roof-mounted energy-efficient LED fixture. They're designed to send a beam of light to a specific outside space that needs to be lit up. It's used as security lighting and it can light up parking lots. LED floodlights outdoors can also be used for sports courts and tennis courts using LED Sports Flood Lights. You'll find them lighting up baseball, and softball fields, and basketball courts. They're configurable with different beam angles from narrow to wide. This provides varied lighting options for different needs and requirements. They work particularly well as security lights in large open areas.

Are all LED Flood Lights Commercial Grade or Industrial Grade?

No. LED Flood lights are a broad category of many products. They include lower-wattage consumer products designed to add lights around the home. That is not what we sell. Our flood lights are commercial and industrial grade. Some have marine-grade coatings to withstand saltwater environments. We offer high-powered versions you can configure to replace sports field lighting.

What's the Difference Between an LED Flood Light and a Spot Light?

The real difference between a flood light and a spotlight is the spread of the light beam they produce. Floodlights have wider beam angles meant to "flood" a large area with light. A spotlight has a narrowly focused beam pattern meant to throw a large amount of light out to a specific point. Some of our flood lights can do both.

What's the Difference Between Commercial LED Flood Lights and Stadium Lights?

There is a close resemblance between these two types of fixtures. In some cases, you can use floodlights in place of LED Stadium Lights. Stadium lighting is a powerful flood light and has a series of optional "tight" beam patterns. These include 10, 15, 30, 45, and 60 degree beam patterns. Its light can be pointing from high mounting points to specific areas of a field. A flood light can also be a high-power fixture. Its range of optics is not as narrow and it has wider options available.

What is the Life Expectancy of LED Flood Lights?

LED floodlights should last 10-15 years. This assumes running the light 12 hours a night, 365 days a year. Whether you choose the 250-watt option, the 400-watt LED flood fixture, or a more powerful LED flood light solution, you should expect them to be low maintenance and provide reliable lighting for over a decade. This long-term efficiency guarantee will help you save money, time, and resources - without compromising on your outdoor lighting needs.

Can you Replace 400-watt and 1000-watt Metal Halide Flood Lights with LED?

We can replace 50 to 2000-watt metal halide fixtures one-for-one with LED. This can be done without installing many fixtures, adding new poles, or changing your wiring. And you should expect significant energy savings when you convert from Metal Halide to LED.

What are the Most Common Mounting Options with Commercial LED Flood Lights?

The most common flood light mounting options are knuckle mount, yoke mount, 1/2 in NPT mount, arm mount, slip fitter mount, and trunnion mount.

What are the Best Outdoor LED Flood Lights?

The best LED flood light is the one that fulfills your requirements. Flood lights are a defined light source and have many options, such as power, lumens, and beam angles. What works best for one lighting application may not be the right choice for another. A lighting plan will help you find the best commercial flood option for your needs. It will show you the best lighting option for your area.

What are the Best Color Temperatures for LED Flood Lights?

By far the most popular are:

  • 5000K Color Temperature - Bright White
  • 4000K Color Temperature - Warm White
  • 3000K Color Temperature - Very Warm Lighting

5000K Color Temperature is the best replacement for Metal Halide. If you're looking for a warm color, then 4000K Color Temperature is a good choice. If you are looking to replace high-pressure sodium, then consider 3000K.

How Can You Reduce Glare on LED Flood Lights?

You should consider adding some side shields to the lights to block direct view of the light source. Side shields will greatly reduce glare from side viewing positions.
