What are LED Wall Packs with Photocells?

LED wall packs with photocells are robust and energy-efficient commercial lighting fixtures designed for outdoor use. You can use them around building exterior walls, walkways, parking lots, and similar commercial spaces.

They usually feature on building walls and serve as security lights, accent lights, and task lights. These lights are a cost-effective and energy-saving option for new constructions or replacements of existing fixtures on building exteriors.

They are commonly found in parking garages, and around building perimeters at commercial locations. They include a photocell that allows them to turn on at dusk and off at dawn. They provide widespread illumination in many commercial exterior lighting applications.

What Makes LED Wall Packs with Photocells Beneficial?

LED wall packs with photocells offer several advantages over traditional metal halide wall pack fixtures:

  • They are more energy-efficient, providing substantial energy savings and reducing lighting costs by 50-80%.
  • They require minimal maintenance over their lifespan.
  • They offer high-quality, bright, and powerful lighting solutions.
  • They can instantly turn on and off, making them compatible with motion sensors and photocells.

How Do I Decide on the Right LED Wall Pack Lighting with Photocell to Use?

When replacing older Metal Halide or HID wall packs with photocells, consider the following:

  • For 100 Watts – choose LED light fixtures providing 3000 to 5000 lumens of light output.
  • For 150 Watts – choose an LED fixture offering 5000 to 7500 lumen output.
  • For 250 Watts – choose an LED fixture generating 7500 to 15,000 lumens.
  • For 400 Watts – choose an LED fixture generating 15,000 to 25,000 lumens.

To specify the ideal output, consider:

  • Your current wall packs’ wattage
  • The number of existing fixtures and whether the light levels are sufficient
  • The height at which the fixtures are installed
  • The purpose of the lights – general or security lighting

You should also note:

  • Voltage: 100-277V or 277-480V.
  • Motion Sensor: Do you want the LED Wall Pack Fixtures to dim when no one is around?
  • Color Temperature: 4000K or 5000K. Natural white light is most suitable, try to avoid cool white light.
