General
What is the Best LED Warehouse Lighting You Offer?
There is no “one-size-fits-all” best warehouse light. But there is a light that should be the best choice for your space – whether you need indoor or outdoor lighting.
Understanding your warehouse’s purpose goes a long way to narrowing down the best efficient lighting option. We will ask a few simple questions and might create a free lighting plan.
We can offer you the best energy-efficient LED warehouse lights that would work best for your business.
Can I Replace My Old High Bay Light Fixtures with LED Warehouse Lighting – 1 for 1?
Yes, quite easily and they are a cost effective solution to replacing old HID and fluorescent lighting. We can also re-plan your lighting layout if that is something you want or need. We have enough lighting options to replace your existing lights with LED lights. It’s not common to add new fixtures or rewire your building. For lower ceiling applications, less than 15 feet high, you should consider using low bay lights. A LED High bay light is too powerful and would overwhelm the space.
What Type of LED Fixture Is Best for Me?
The first decision you need to make is based on your mounting height.
Ceiling height 10-20 feet: LED Low Bay Lights
Ceiling height 20-60 feet: LED High Bay LightsThe second decision is based on the style of the fixture. You can choose UFO LED Lights or Linear LED High Bays for Warehouses. Here’s a good way to think about it: UFO High Bays replaces HID / Metal Halide Lighting and linear panels are a good choice to replace fluorescent lights.
That doesn’t mean you can’t replace fluorescent lights with UFO LED High Bays – you can. We can help you make the best choice.
How much light do you recommend for my warehouse?
This depends on how the warehouse is used. Warehouses used primarily for storage need less light. A warehouse used for manufacturing needs more.
You measure High Bay LED light levels in terms of foot candles on the ground. Foot candles are a result of the lumen output a fixture has and watts produces the lumen output. The more lumens per watt, the better your energy savings will be. And energy savings will mean lower utility bills.
At the lower end, you should try to hit a target of 20 to 30 foot candles. Depending on what your needs are, you can always increase that. The goal of many of our warehouse lighting plans is to achieve an average of 30 to 40 foot candles.
What Are Your Best-Selling Warehouse High Bay LED Lights?
We have seen 3 lights stand out among the rest and requested more often.
- Our HBC-150 UFO LED High Bay Light is the most popular high bay to replace 400-Watt Metal-Halide if you’re looking for a round fixture.
- For those who like linear panels, our 165-Watt Linear panel is a popular choice. This panel replaces a 400-Watt HID or a 6-tube 54-Watt HO fluorescent fixture.
- For those looking to replace a 1000-Watt Metal Halide, our 240-Watt High-Efficiency UFO is a popular high bay option.
What Can I Do If Areas in My Warehouse are Unoccupied for Large Parts of the Day?
The best solution is to add a motion sensor. They turn the high bay light fixtures to full power when motion is detected. They turn off / dim the lights when the area is void of activity or movement reducing energy consumption. You can decide on the best dimming strategy as well. By using motion sensor solutions, you can save on electrical bills, beef up your security, and reduce overhead costs.
How Many High Bay LED Warehouse Lighting Fixtures Do I Need?
This question is hard to answer. Only because there are no two warehouses that are the same. There is a path that almost guarantees finding the best High Bay LED Lights for your warehouse. Here are the steps to finding the best light:
1. Start with determining how much light you need or want in your warehouse. You’ll want to have a light measurement of lux, lumens per square foot, or foot candles.
2. Ask us to create a lighting plan. If it’s a new warehouse, give us the CAD or scaled layout and your desired light levels (or we can recommend them). If it’s an existing warehouse, provide us with a layout or dimensions. If there are existing light locations, tell us where they are.
We will use different types of lights to achieve the results needed. The lighting plan will show you how bright the light levels are, light balance, and the number of fixtures used to produce the light. It will also tell you what type of fixture we used.
This is the best formula for creating a successful outcome. And determining how many lights you need. We can help you find the best LED warehouse high bay lights based on your requirements.
Do you have Distribution Center Lighting?
There really isn’t anything special about a distribution center, other than it’s a large warehouse space with a lot of activity processing orders. What makes Distribution Center Lighting different from a large warehouse space is the number of foot candles, or light levels, needed in areas where package processing is done.
We can easily create a Distribution Center Lighting Plan to meet even the most demanding needs. Our warehouse lighting is powerful enough that we can even replace 2000-Watt Metal Halides with our fixtures 1 for 1.
What are the Best Color Temperatures for Indoor Open Areas?
We recommend either 4000K or 5000K as the optimal color temperature to light up large warehouse spaces.
BEFORE YOU BUY
How Many Lumens Do I Need for a Warehouse?
Lumens are a function of the amount of light each fixture produces. Making a determination alone based on lumens or watts is not a good approach.
Always start by thinking of foot candles needed. This will determine how well-lit your warehouse will be. Here are some simple guidelines to start with.
Replace Metal Halides and High Pressure Sodium with LED High Bay Lights:
250 Watts: 10,000 to 15,000 LED Lumens
400 Watts: 15,000 to 25,000 LED Lumens
1000 Watts: 36,000+ LED LumensReplace F54 T5 HO Fluorescent Tubes:
4 tube: 10,000 to 15,000 LED Lumens
6 tube: 15,000 to 25,000 LED Lumens
8 tube: 36,000 to 50,000 LED Lumens
10 tube: 50,000+ LED Lumens* Actual lumens needed will be dependent on mounting height and required light level.
We made it easy for you to find the perfect light.
250-Watt HID Equivalent Warehouse Lighting
Are your fixtures Commercial and/or Industrial Applications Rated?
Yes, they are. In fact, most of what we sell is robust Commercial LED Lighting and warehouse Industrial LED lighting. Many of our industrial warehouse fixtures have high impact ratings (IK01 to IK10 ratings). And water ingress IP ratings (IP65 or greater) that is a measurement of how well a fixture is protected from dust, moisture and water.
What’s the best way to avoid shadows and shadowing in a warehouse?
Shadowing is caused when the light levels in between lights dip significantly so that it’s noticeable to the eye. This is caused by having the lights installed too far apart or the optic on the light being too tight and therefore does not light up a large enough space under the light.
A lighting plan will determine if the light chosen will cause shadows. You can avoid shadowing by creating a lighting layout and choosing the light that will give you the best combination of foot candles and light balance. Our team helps design high bay lighting plans and provides a range of options suitable for different types of warehouses.
How Much Does It Cost to Convert Warehouse Lighting with LED?
There are two costs associated with converting your fixtures to LED Warehouse Lighting. They are:
the cost of the new lights
the cost of installationThe cost of the fixtures is something we can help with. As well, we can help with rebates with your local utility if they offer rebates. Rebates on LED Lights for Warehouse Facilities often include the combined cost of fixtures and installation.
How Are the LED Warehouse Lights Connected to Power? Are There Any Attachment Chains or Mounts Included?
There are several options.
For UFO LED Lights, we offer eye hooks, pendants, and in some cases ceiling mounts.
For panel-style lights, we offer wire/chain and pendant mounts on some lights. All our UFO Lights use a wire/whipcord so your electrician can wire them into a junction box. You can add a plug to the service end of the whip if your facility uses plugs instead of junction boxes.
For Linear LED High Bay Lights, your installer will wire into the junction box on the fixture.
How Many Warehouses Have You Converted Over to LED Lighting?
We have upgraded thousands of warehouse facilities over the last several years with LED lights. We have used both UFO and Linear Lighting fixtures, and have created free lighting plans for our customers and their warehouse facilities.
Can we buy Emergency Backup Packs (EMBs)?
These are options on many of our warehouse fixtures. We have supplied them with both UFO and panel-style LED fixtures we sell. Call us to find out the best solution if you need an EMB. We find that emergency backup is only needed on a small number of the fixtures to provide egress to the exits.
An EMB will provide safety light for up to 90 minutes.
What Voltage Options are Available for Warehouse LED Lights?
There are two basic voltage options for LED lighting solutions for warehouses: standard and high voltage.
The standard voltage which is available on all our lights is between 100V and 277V. These are self-adjusting LED drivers, so it automatically recognizes the incoming voltage and switch automatically.
High Voltage, available on some of our warehouse LED light fixtures, is offered in 2 distinct ranges. They also automatically switch as the standard voltage drivers do.
347V-480V
277V-480VDo You Sell Warehouse Light Bulbs?
We do not sell bulbs, per se, to replace an existing bulb inside an existing commercial warehouse lighting fixture. We sell the entire fixture that would replace the existing fixture or LED Retrofit Kits that replace bulbs and ballasts with LED Kits.
Do Your Warehouse Light Fixtures Come with Motion Sensors?
Some have them built in, others are optionable that you can buy when you order. Adding a motion sensor is easy. When you use the optional remote lighting control, you can easily configure the light and the motion sensor. You only need one remote control to set up all your lights that have motion sensors.
What is the Brightest Warehouse Light You Offer?
The brightest UFO light is 600 Watts producing 96,000 lumens.
The brightest panel-style fixture we offer is 320 Watts producing over 43,000 lumens. Both these warehouse industrial lighting options are for a facility/building with high ceilings over 40 feet in height.
INSTALLATION
How Far Apart Should We Mount LED High Bay Lights in a Warehouse?
This depends on the mounting height of the fixtures. The lower the height, the closer the fixtures need to be to each other. The higher the fixture, the further apart they can be.
The goal is to avoid shadows between fixtures and hot spots (too much light) right under a fixture.
How Do You Adjust Lighting and Light Levels in a Warehouse?
Pre-purchase, the best way is to create a lighting plan. It’s the best single step you can take to get the lighting right.
Post-purchase, dimming the lights to raise or lower the light levels. How Do You Mount Warehouse Lights?
We have several options, including eye hooks, pendants, surface mounts, and chain wire mounts. All our High Bay Light Fixtures come with detailed mounting and wiring instructions. A qualified electrician can easily follow and install our fixtures.
