Our 480 Volt LED High Bay Lights include UFO and linear fixtures with 277-480V LED drivers for high-ceiling commercial and industrial facilities. Supported product configurations operate on 277V, 347V, and 480V electrical systems. Available fixtures vary by lumen output, optics, mounting method, controls, operating-temperature range, and environmental rating. UFO high bays provide compact, round fixture configurations for open areas, while linear high bays provide rectangular configurations for aisles, racks, rows, and production spaces. Model-specific controls include dimming and motion sensor options. Depending on the fixture, products may carry UL, ETL, CSA, DLC, or DLC Premium listings and qualifications.

Common applications for these fixtures include warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing plants, aircraft hangars, maintenance buildings, power-generation sites, treatment plants, large garages, and equipment storage facilities with higher-voltage electrical systems. UFO fixtures are commonly installed above open warehouse floors, production areas, hangars, and other large open spaces. Linear fixtures are used over warehouse aisles, high-rack storage, assembly lines, equipment rows, and rectangular work areas. Additional installation locations include loading zones, staging areas, machining spaces, fleet maintenance buildings, transportation facilities, utilities, and industrial work areas.

480 Volt LED High Bay Lights

480 Volt LED high bay lights are designed for commercial and industrial buildings that use higher-voltage electrical systems. Fixtures in this category use 277-480V LED drivers, allowing them to operate on 277V, 347V, and 480V systems when supported by the exact product configuration.

These fixtures are commonly used in warehouses, manufacturing plants, distribution centers, aircraft hangars, large maintenance facilities, utilities, and other high-ceiling spaces where 480V electrical service is available.

Voltage is only one part of fixture selection. The right high bay also depends on ceiling height, lumen output, optics, fixture spacing, mounting method, controls, ambient temperature, and the required foot-candle level.

For projects that do not specifically require higher-voltage fixtures, see our complete selection of commercial LED high bay lights.

Where 480V High Bay Lights Are Commonly Used

Higher-voltage high bay lighting is most common in large industrial and commercial facilities where 480V distribution is already used for lighting or other building systems.

  • Warehouses and distribution centers: High bay fixtures can provide overhead illumination for open storage areas, loading zones, staging areas, aisles, and high-rack spaces.
  • Manufacturing and production facilities: 480V high bays are often used above production floors, assembly areas, machining spaces, equipment zones, and other large industrial work areas.
  • Aircraft hangars and maintenance buildings: High mounting heights and large open floor areas may require higher-output fixtures with carefully selected optics and spacing.
  • Utility and industrial facilities: Power-generation sites, treatment plants, maintenance buildings, and other facilities with higher-voltage electrical systems may use 480V lighting circuits.
  • Large garages and equipment buildings: Fleet maintenance, heavy-equipment storage, transportation, and service facilities may use high bays where ceilings and mounting heights exceed those suited to lower-bay fixtures.

The presence of a 480V electrical system does not determine the required light output. Fixture quantity and lumen package should still be based on the size of the space, mounting height, work tasks, obstructions, reflectance, and target light levels.

What to Confirm Before Ordering 480 Volt High Bays

Selection Factor What to Check
Input voltage Confirm the actual facility supply voltage and verify that the selected fixture uses a 277-480V driver suitable for that electrical system.
Ceiling and mounting height Mounting height affects lumen output, optics, fixture spacing, glare, and the amount of light reaching the work plane.
Lumen output Select lumens according to mounting height, fixture spacing, required foot-candles, and the tasks performed in the space rather than replacing an HID fixture by wattage alone.
Optics Narrower distributions can concentrate light from greater mounting heights, while wider distributions may suit lower mounting heights or broader open areas. Review photometric performance for the actual layout.
Fixture style UFO LED high bays are commonly used in open areas and as replacements for round HID fixtures, while linear LED high bays can be useful over aisles, racks, rows, and rectangular work areas.
Controls Dimming, motion sensors, and other controls must be compatible with the selected fixture, driver, voltage, and operating strategy.
Ambient and environmental conditions Confirm the fixture’s operating-temperature range and environmental ratings for unconditioned buildings, cold storage, dusty areas, wet or washdown locations, or high-temperature spaces.

480V Does Not Determine High Bay Output

A 480V high bay is not automatically brighter or more powerful than a lower-voltage fixture. The voltage rating describes the electrical supply the LED driver can accept. Lumen output, fixture efficiency, optics, mounting height, and layout determine the actual lighting performance.

Two high bays using 277-480V drivers can produce very different results if they have different lumen packages or beam distributions. Existing metal halide wattage can be a useful starting reference, but the replacement should ultimately be selected from the required light level and photometric performance.

UFO or Linear 480V High Bays?

The electrical voltage does not determine whether a UFO or linear fixture is the better choice. Fixture style should follow the geometry of the space and the required light distribution.

UFO high bays are often a strong fit for open warehouse floors, production areas, hangars, and other large spaces where compact fixtures and strong downward illumination work well. Linear high bays can be better suited to aisles, high-rack storage, assembly lines, and longer rectangular areas.

High-Temperature, Cold, and Harsh Environments

Some 480V high bay applications operate in demanding temperature or environmental conditions. Confirm the selected fixture’s marked ambient-temperature range rather than assuming a standard high bay is suitable for every industrial building.

For hotter industrial spaces, see our high-temperature LED lighting options. Cold-storage and unconditioned facilities should likewise be matched to the operating-temperature range of the exact fixture.

Installation, Certifications, and Controls

480V high bay lighting should be installed by qualified electrical professionals familiar with commercial and industrial electrical systems. Confirm supply voltage, branch circuit requirements, conductors, grounding, mounting structure, controls, and any disconnect or wiring requirements before installation.

Safety and Performance Certifications: Listings and qualifications are model-specific. Depending on the fixture, products may carry UL, ETL, CSA, DLC, DLC Premium, or other applicable certifications or qualifications. Review the exact product specification for voltage, environmental ratings, dimming, sensors, emergency options, mounting, and certification information.

If emergency illumination is required, confirm whether the selected 480V fixture supports an appropriate high bay emergency lighting solution and whether separate emergency circuits or other project requirements apply.

Lighting Design and Warranty Support

Large warehouses, high-rack aisles, manufacturing spaces, hangars, and unusual mounting heights should be reviewed with a lighting plan before fixtures are ordered. LED Lighting Supply can provide a warehouse and high bay lighting design to evaluate fixture quantity, spacing, mounting height, foot-candles, and uniformity.

Warranty and Warranty Support: Most commercial LED high bay lights include a 5-year warranty unless otherwise specified, with warranty support based in the USA. Confirm the exact fixture’s 277-480V input range, lumen package, optics, controls, environmental ratings, certifications, and warranty terms before ordering.

480 Volt LED High Bay Lights FAQs

Will A 480V High Bay Work On 277V Or 347V Service?

It can when the exact fixture is configured with a 277-480V LED driver. Confirm the actual facility supply voltage and the selected product input range before ordering.

Does A 480V High Bay Produce More Light Than A Lower-Voltage Fixture?

No. The voltage rating identifies the electrical supply the driver can accept, while lumen output, optics, mounting height, and layout determine lighting performance.

How Should I Choose Lumen Output For 480V High Bay Lights?

Choose lumen output from the mounting height, fixture spacing, required foot-candles, and work performed in the space rather than HID wattage alone. Space size, obstructions, reflectance, and target light levels also affect fixture quantity and lumen package.

When Is A Lighting Plan Useful For A 480V High Bay Project?

A lighting plan is especially useful for large warehouses, high-rack aisles, manufacturing spaces, hangars, and unusual mounting heights. It can evaluate fixture quantity, spacing, mounting height, foot-candles, and uniformity before fixtures are ordered.

What Should I Verify For Harsh Or Unconditioned High Bay Environments?

Verify the exact fixture operating-temperature range and environmental ratings for the application. This is important for cold storage, dusty areas, wet or washdown locations, high-temperature spaces, and unconditioned buildings.

Are Certifications And Controls The Same On Every 480V High Bay?

No. Certifications, dimming, sensors, emergency options, mounting, and environmental ratings are model-specific, so review the exact product specification before ordering.
