What are the Types of LED Lighting Supply Fixtures You Can Find in an Auditorium?

You will find a wide variety of lighting solutions. We have seen high bays, low bays, and In-ceiling metal halide can lights. In each of these cases, we have LED Lights for Auditoriums designed to replace your existing lights.

Many of the lights we offer are dimmable. They can be hooked up to a lighting control system (0-10V low voltage)

The Three Zones in the Auditorium

  • Audience Lighting: The audience area is by far the largest zone. Recessed lighting and high bay lighting solutions are both great options. This is the area where LED Lighting Supply excels.
  • Board Lighting: These lights are used to provide light to the stage or screen. Since this area requires precise lighting, we recommend LED panel lights or LED flood lights for this area.
  • Presenter Lighting: These lights are designed to highlight the presenter. Tight-beamed spot lighting is a good option for this.

What are the Benefits of LED Lighting Supply Lights Used In Auditoriums?

  • Long Life: With our lights, you will have years of maintenance-free life without bulb or ballast changes reducing or eliminating maintenance costs
  • Energy Efficiency and Reduced Energy Bills: Our lights will reduce your energy costs and lighting bills by 50% to 75% with lower energy consumption versus traditional lighting. And if you add motion sensors, you can expect even more savings.
  • Controls Ready: Motion sensors, used alongside dimmable LED lights, can turn the lights to full power when motion is detected and off / dimmed when the area is void of movement.
  • Quick Pay Back / ROI: With our lights, the savings in energy will create a short ROI. And the higher the utility cost per kWh, the faster the payback.
  • Environmental Impact: There are no harsh chemicals like mercury in our LED lighting. So while you should properly dispose of them at the end of life, there are no costly charges like there are with fluorescent lighting.
  • Safer Areas: Our LED Lights are reliable and produce high-quality lighting for a long period versus metal halide and fluorescent lighting. It keeps the areas lit by LED lights safer and well-lit.
  • Instant On: Our LED Lights turn to 100% the moment you hit the light switch.
  • Easy to install: There is nothing difficult about installing and wiring our LED lights for new installations or replacing old light fixtures. All instructions are included.

What are the Recommended Footcandles for an Auditorium Space?

  • General Seating Areas: 5 to 20 fc
  • Stage or Performance Area: 50 to 150 fc
  • Backstage/Preparation Areas: 10 to 30 fc
  • Lobby or Foyer: 10 to 30 fc

We recommend that you first determine your required light levels in terms of foot candles and light styles, and then create a lighting plan that achieves this. The lighting plan will determine the appropriate lighting. It will also find the wattage/lumen package / optic package to meet your needs.

What is the Best Color Temperature for Auditoriums?

In this case, we could see uses for 3000K, 4000K, and even 5000K. It depends on the intent of the auditorium and how it’s used. Many of our lights are color-selectable, so you can choose the color temperature you like when you install the fixtures.

LED Lights for Auditoriums FAQs

Will LED Lights Add Heat to the Auditorium?

No, there should be a reduction in heat over metal halide, halogen, or quartz lighting.

Are LED Lights Compatible with a Lighting Control System?

Our lights can be. Make sure you tell us what your lighting control system requires. And we can walk you through the available options.

Are Recessed Lights a Good Option for an Auditorium?

They are a good option, but whether they’re best for you is completely up to how well they light the space below. We have retrofitted many metal halide can lights with high-power metal halide retrofit kits. So, if this is what your current auditorium has, then we can still use these fixtures.

What are the Best Light Levels for Theaters?

There are many different levels you may want to achieve. There’s the all-bright mode when people are coming in or leaving, or when your maintenance staff is in the area. There are also the light levels needed when the auditorium show is happening.

How Easy is it to Change Old Auditorium Lights to LED?

Any qualified electrician familiar with your facility will have no problem using our lights.
