The Best LED Lighting for Schools

Here is our list of lighting by application within a school

Best LED Classroom Lighting?

We see LED panels used in classrooms. There are many different options. Each type of light may have a different option based on your desired light levels and light balance.

Best Type of LED Lighting for School Gyms?

UFO LED lights are a great option. They are powerful, high-impact-rated fixtures that can withstand an impact from a ball. They provide great light coverage and savings.

Best LED High Bay to Replace 400-Watt Metal Halide Gym Fixtures?

We have a series of LED high bays between 150 and 240 Watts. These would be a great replacement for these fixtures.

Best Type of LED Lighting for Schools Sports Fields?

We offer many high-power flood lights and stadium lights. These can replace metal halide stadium lighting. Our lights are powerful enough to replace or exceed your current lighting with a 1-for-1 replacement. Contact us today and we’ll provide you with a free lighting plan. It will help determine the best option for your application.

Best LED Sports Light Fixtures Replace 1500 Metal Halide?

We offer a 600-watt LED spot flood light that will outperform the 1500-watt metal halide fixture, 1 for 1. We can create a lighting plan to show you how your field will look if you want to see what a conversion to LED would look like.

Best Type of LED Lighting for School Parking Lots?

Shoebox lights will work. They are also referred to as parking lot lights.

School Class Room Lighting

What's the Best Color Temperature for Classroom Lighting?

4000K for classroom lighting. Additional 3500K is an option that we do get some requests for. We offer a color-changeable LED panel that allows you to choose between 3000K and 5000K. So you can decide the best color option after your buy. But the most used color temperature is 4000K.

Many of our lights are color-adjustable, so you can choose the color temperature you feel is best, even after installation.

How Bright Should Classroom Lighting Be?

Classroom lighting should be between 30 and 50-foot candles.

Is it Best to Use 1x4s, 2x4s, or 2X2 Panel Lights in a Classroom?

The best option depends on your current grid pattern. It’s best to match your existing grid pattern to keep the costs lower. The main difference is a 2X4 panel is 2X brighter than a similar spec 2X2 or 1X4 panel. Otherwise, there’s no difference. The 2X4 panel is the most common choice.

How Many Lights Do You Need Per Classroom?

That depends on many factors, desired light levels being one of them. The best plan and course of action is to contact us and ask for a lighting plan. We will create one for you (free of charge). This will show you how well-lit your classrooms can be and how well-balanced the light appears across the room.

Can You Dim LED Lights in a Classroom?

All our classroom fixture options come dimmable. We offer color adjustable, wattage-adjustable LED Panels.

You will need an LED dimming switch that supports 0-10V or 1-10V dimming. You will need to wire in a low-voltage dimming system to the classroom lights. Your installer should be very familiar with doing this.

School Gymnasium Lighting

Motion Sensors for School LED Gym Lights

Many of our UFO Lights work with motion sensors. This will allow the gym lights to dim when it’s empty.

Foot Candle Recommendations for a School Gymnasium

Gyms should be lit up with at least 50-foot candles, depending on the function and use of the gym.

How Easy Is it to Replace Old Gymnasium Lights with LED Fixtures?

It’s very simple to do. It’s no different than replacing it with any other type of light.

Benefits of Using LED Lighting in a School

  • Long Life: Years of maintenance-free life without bulb or ballast changes reducing or eliminating maintenance costs
  • Reduced Energy Bills: You can expect to reduce your energy costs and lighting bills by 50% to 75% with lower energy consumption versus traditional lighting. And if you add motion sensors, you can expect even more savings.
  • Energy Efficient Lighting: LED Light Fixtures are known for their efficiency and energy savings. They convert most of the electricity used into light. Very little heat is created. This will reduce your HVAC load and is a cost-effective lighting solution.
  • Quick Payback / ROI: The energy savings will create a short ROI. The higher the utility cost per kWh, the faster the payback.
  • Environmental Impact: There are no harsh chemicals like Mercury in LED lights. So while you should properly dispose of them at the end of life, there are no costly charges like there are with fluorescent lighting.
  • No Flickering or Humming: Fluorescent Lights are known to flicker, and their ballasts hum. LED lights do neither.
  • Dimmable: We offer dimmable office lights and color-changing panels. Our remote control makes dimming them easy. No separate dimming switch is needed.
  • Choose Color Adjustable and Wattage Adjustable LED Lighting: Some of our lights are wattage adjustable, some are color adjustable, and some are both. This allows you to adjust the light post-installation.
  • Motion Sensors: Where it makes sense, you may want to install motion sensors so the lights dim when there is no movement or activity
  • Emergency Backup: Some of our interior lights have an EMB option to stay on when the power is unexpectedly turned off.
  • Color Temperature Options: We have options from 3000K to 5000K, and some are color-adjustable
