A surface-mount frame attaches below the ceiling and holds the panel, driver, wiring, and related components inside a finished enclosure. The completed installation is deeper than a recessed panel because the fixture and frame sit below the ceiling surface.

Before choosing a surface-mounted panel installation, confirm:

  • Panel and frame compatibility: The surface-mount frame must match the exact panel size and supported model.
  • Finished dimensions: Verify the frame’s external length, width, and depth against the available ceiling space.
  • Driver and wiring clearance: Confirm there is sufficient room for the driver, junction box, wiring, connectors, and strain relief.
  • Ceiling construction: Fasteners and anchors must be suitable for the ceiling material and total installed weight.
