Class 6 wood poles are typically installed by placing part of the pole below grade and compacting approved backfill around it. Anchor bolts are not normally used for a conventional direct-embedded wood pole.

Because part of the pole is below ground, its nominal length is not the same as the usable height above grade. Before selecting a pole length, account for:
