What Materials Are 30-Foot Poles and 35-Foot Poles Made Of?

LED Lighting Supply's light and utility poles are engineered wood, steel, or fiberglass alternatives. The best material option for your project will depend on the particular pole assembly. Here's a quick breakdown of each light pole type.

  • Steel Light Poles are a well-suited alternative to wood light poles due to their rot, decay, and insect resistance. They can be equipped with a powder coat finish, base cover, and base plate to enhance structural stability regardless of environmental conditions. Steel poles demand minimal maintenance while providing strength in high-wind zones.
  • Wood Light Poles are most commonly used in sports field projects and utility projects. Our pressure-treated wood poles are made of southern yellow pine and are corrosion-resistant. They are constructed to last for years in a variety of environments. Wood poles are available in class 1 to class 7, to meet project requirements. This is the lowest priced option in comparison to fiberglass and steel light poles.
  • Fiberglass Light Poles are known for their durability and structural integrity. They are a strong yet lightweight alternative to both wood and steel light poles. Fiberglass poles are a favorable solution for sports projects and parking lots because of their rot, rust, corrosion, and fire resistance. They offer a long-lasting service life of up to 80 years.

What Are the Mounting Types of These Poles?

We offer two types of 30-foot light poles – 35-foot poles: anchor-based and direct burial. Anchor-based poles employ a concrete base and anchor bolts for enhanced stability and security. For a more seamless look, our direct burial method, primarily used for wooden poles, may be the best solution. Direct burial methods mitigate the need for foundation design and additional materials, easing installation efforts. Refer to the pole's spec sheet to determine direct burial ground depth. A base cover is not required for direct burial installation methods.

What are the Shapes and Colors of our 30-Foot and 35-Foot Poles?

Our 30 – 35 foot poles are available in square and round pole shaft shapes. You have the option to choose from:

  • Square steel poles
  • Square fiberglass poles
  • Round steel poles
  • Round fiberglass poles
  • Round wood poles

We offer our steel poles with a dark bronze powder coat finish. All our wood poles are round, and the dimensions of the poles are based on their class.

What are the Lighting Options Available for These Poles?

With multi-mounting options, our 30-35 foot poles accommodate a versatile range of light fixture solutions, including parking lot lights, shoebox lights, and flood lights. Having supplied LED Outdoor Lights to our commercial and industrial customers for over 15 years, we can assure you that matching the proper lighting solution to poles is one of our core specialties. We stock thousands of fixtures in our USA warehouses, ready to meet your needs.

What is the Lead Time for These Poles?

While each of our poles is custom-built for your project, we strive to deliver promptly. You can expect a lead time of between 4 to 12 weeks, depending on your project’s specifics. We also have quick-ship fiberglass poles stocked in the USA for urgent project deadlines.

What is EPA (Effective Projected Area)?

Our Product Specialists understand project requirements and consider the wind loads across the United States. Our team performs an EPA calculation to establish the appropriate size, strength, and quantity of lights you can install on your 30-foot and 35-foot pole, ensuring it perfectly suits your location. You can also use LED Lighting Supply's free wind load calculator for a quick determination of the required EPA rating.

Where Are You Located?

Wind loads across the United States vary from region to region. A pole installed in Memphis will have a lower wind load than one installed in Miami. Understanding the load will determine the size of the pole, its strength, and how many lights you can install on that pole. This is known as an EPA calculation, and we can provide you with that calculation before you purchase. In many cases, a custom light pole is the best solution for your region.
