Product Overview

This 35-foot above grade round fiberglass pole is built for direct burial installation with a 7-foot embedment depth, bringing the total pole length to 42 feet. The pole measures 9.06 inches in diameter with a wall thickness of .382 inches and weighs 392 pounds.

The fiberglass construction is finished with a fluoropolymer coating and is available in bronze, black, white, gray, or custom colors. A top cap is included with the pole.

Where This Product Fits Best

This pole is rated for high wind zone applications, with EPA values provided for wind speeds from 70 mph up to 160 mph. At 90 mph wind speed, the EPA rating is 40.6 square feet. At 130 mph, the EPA drops to 13.3 square feet. At 160 mph, the EPA is 4.7 square feet. These ratings determine how much fixture area can be safely mounted at each wind speed threshold.

Direct burial installation eliminates the need for anchor bolt foundations. The 7-foot burial depth provides the structural support for the 35 feet of exposed pole height. Fiberglass material is non-conductive, does not rust or corrode, and does not rot over time.

Performance and Functional Considerations

Fiberglass poles are designed to flex under wind load and return to their original position rather than permanently deforming or breaking. This flex behavior is engineered into the material and is normal under high wind conditions.

The fluoropolymer coating includes UV protection rated for 25 years. Fiberglass does not sustain flame because the material provides no fuel source for fire. The pole weighs 392 pounds, which is lighter than comparable steel poles of similar height and can reduce handling and installation effort.

Installation and Long-Term Use

This pole installs via direct burial with a minimum embedment of 7 feet below grade. No anchor base or concrete pier is required for the pole itself, though soil conditions and local engineering requirements will determine whether additional backfill compaction or concrete collar is needed at the site.

Composite fiberglass cross arms are available in 4-foot, 6-foot, and 8-foot lengths for mounting luminaires or equipment. Because fiberglass does not corrode or rot, ongoing structural maintenance is minimal compared to steel or wood poles. The fluoropolymer finish resists weathering and color degradation over time.

How This Fixture Is Commonly Used

Facility operators selecting this pole typically match the EPA rating to their site''s wind zone and the total effective projected area of the luminaires or equipment being mounted. At higher wind speeds, fixture selection must stay within the lower EPA limits to avoid overloading the pole.

The lighter weight of fiberglass compared to steel simplifies unloading and positioning during installation, especially in locations with limited crane access. Once installed, the pole requires no painting or corrosion treatment. The flex characteristic means visible pole movement during storms is expected and does not indicate structural failure.

Safety, Certifications, and Warranty

This pole is non-conductive, which eliminates electrical conductivity through the pole structure. The fiberglass material does not sustain flame. The fluoropolymer coating provides long-term UV resistance.

LED Lighting Supply backs this pole with a 7-year warranty.
