How Do You Light Up a Pickleball Court at Night?

There are two distinct ways we’ve worked with. Side court mounted poles or pole mounted flood lights that are installed farther away from the court.

Pickleball courts are easy to light up, if you use the right fixture for the specific court based on mounting locations. We offer free lighting plans so that we can offer the best light for your court layout.

Is the Lighting on an Old Pickleball Court Able to Be Retrofitted When Converting to LED?

Yes, it can be. We offer retrofit kits if keeping the look or aesthetics of your fixtures is important. If not, we offer new fixtures that you can install and replace your existing fixtures 1 for 1.

How High Should Lights Be Mounted on Poles for a Pickleball Court?

Higher is better, because it allows the light to be distributed evenly throughout the court and playing surface. It would be ideal if the lights were mounted 20 feet or higher.

How Much Will LED Lights Reduce Energy Consumption for a Pickleball Court?

Quite a bit, you can expect energy savings to be at least 50-75%. It is not uncommon to replace 1000 Watt Metal Halide with a 300 Watt LED light.

What Is the Correct Type of Lighting to Use for a Pickleball Court?

We have special parking lot lights with forward throw optics that allow the light to cover the court more evenly. For pole mounted floods, we offer high power flood lights that can easily get light to the court and provide uniform lighting.

What Is the Ideal Lighting Level for a Competition Level Pickleball Court?

A good target is at least 50 foot candles. Some customers have requested as much as 80-100 foot candles for competition level pickleball courts.

We do, we have budget friendly lighting options.

I Have 4 Courts. Can I Put Poles Only on the Perimeter Rather Than Poles in Between Each Court?

You can, but we recommend creating a lighting plan first. Picking the right fixture is of paramount importance to get the lighting right.

We Currently Have 400 Watt Metal Halide Fixtures. What Should Be Used to Replace Them?

Depending on the type of fixtures, we have both shoebox fixtures and flood lights that can easily replace 400 Watt metal halides. The best light can be determined by creating a lighting plan.

What Is the Ideal Lighting Level for a Recreational Pickleball Court?

A good target for recreational pickleball courts is 30 foot candles. You should also ensure the light is relatively uniform across the entire playing surface.

You can easily expect our lights to last for 10+ years (or more).

How Can Glare on the Court Be Avoided?

Mounting angles can make a difference. If needed, back shields can be also added. Pointing lights straight down helps a lot too, but the light should be equipped with the proper optics to aid light distribution.

What Is Included in the Warranty?

As long as the lights are installed properly, our warranties cover all issues under normal operating conditions. They do not cover ‘Acts of God’ events, like lightning strikes or damage from high hurricane conditions.

Are Your Fixtures Dark Sky Compliant?

We do offer dark sky compliant fixtures, so if that's what you need, let us know.


What Type of Bracket Should Be Used When Mounting Lights on a Pickleball Court?

We offer straight arms for square and round poles, trunnion and slip fitter mounts.

How Can I Avoid Light from Bleeding onto the Neighbors Properties When Mounting the Lights?

Back shields can be installed to block backward facing light bleed from lights. Let us know if this is a requirement.
