Delivery is made with a flatbed truck and the customer is responsible for offloading. Offloading requires a fork lift or appropriate similar vehicle to offload - customer supplied. Customers are responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment or area to store poles available at the time of delivery. Please contact a sales representative before purchasing to ensure all the project details are clear.

Pricing: Does not include the cost of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.

Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement. While our main product line is southern yellow pine, we at times can offer other species, including douglas fir and red pine. CCA treatment generally will result in the poles being free of insects for decades to come.

Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 7-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for a period of one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview

This 8 Foot Wood Crossarm is designed for use in utility pole mounting and electrical distribution systems. Manufactured from CCA-treated Southern Yellow Pine, it provides structural support for overhead lines and equipment. The crossarm includes V-mounting brackets and a through bolt for secure attachment to wood utility poles.

Typical installations include utility distribution lines, rural roadway lighting, and sports field lighting structures. The 8-foot length and 4-inch by 6-inch profile are standard for medium-duty crossarm applications in municipal, agricultural, and recreational environments.

Core Performance and Output

This crossarm supports the mechanical loads associated with overhead conductors, insulators, and related hardware. The CCA treatment enhances resistance to decay and insect damage, extending service life in outdoor environments. The 4-inch by 6-inch cross-section provides adequate strength for most single-pole distribution and lighting applications.

Maximum supported load depends on pole height, mounting method, and hardware configuration. Excessive cantilevered loads or non-standard mounting may reduce structural performance. The 8-foot length is suitable for typical spans but may not be appropriate for high-tension or multi-circuit installations.

Adjustability and Control Options

The included V-mounting brackets and through bolt allow for direct attachment to standard wood utility poles. The crossarm can be positioned at various heights along the pole to accommodate different line or fixture elevations. Hardware is compatible with common utility pole configurations.

No integrated adjustability or control features are present. All adjustments are made during installation by selecting mounting height and orientation.

Longevity and Reliability

Southern Yellow Pine is selected for its strength and durability in outdoor structural applications. CCA treatment provides long-term resistance to rot, fungal decay, and insect attack. The crossarm is designed for multi-year service in exposed environments.

Routine inspection is recommended to monitor for mechanical damage or hardware loosening. The product carries a 7-year warranty against material and manufacturing defects.

Build Quality and Physical Characteristics

This crossarm measures 8 feet in length, 4 inches in width, and 6 inches in height, with a total weight of 95 lbs. The wood is Southern Yellow Pine, pressure-treated with CCA for enhanced outdoor performance. All mounting hardware is included for standard installations.

Surface finish and dimensional tolerances are consistent with utility-grade wood products. The crossarm is suitable for direct exposure to weather and typical utility environments.

Where This Product Fits Best

This crossarm is intended for use in outdoor utility and lighting support structures where wood crossarms are standard. It is commonly installed on wood utility poles for electrical distribution, sports field lighting, and rural area lighting.

  • utility distribution
  • baseball field lighting
  • municipal lighting
  • area lighting
  • parking lot lighting
  • agricultural property lighting
  • rural roadway lighting

CCA treatment allows for installation in humid, wet, or insect-prone environments. Not intended for use in corrosive marine settings or where non-wood structural members are required.

Installation and Long-Term Use

Install the crossarm using the included V-mounting brackets and through bolt. Standard practice is to mount at the specified height on a wood utility pole, ensuring all hardware is tightened to manufacturer recommendations. The crossarm supports typical line hardware and lighting fixtures used in distribution and area lighting applications.

Periodic inspection of mounting hardware and wood condition is recommended. Replacement may be required if the crossarm shows signs of mechanical damage, excessive weathering, or hardware failure.

How This Fixture Is Commonly Used

Crossarms of this size are typically mounted at heights ranging from 20 to 40 feet, depending on pole length and application. Spacing between crossarms and supported equipment is determined by utility standards and required clearances. In sports field or area lighting, crossarms are used to support multiple fixtures or lines on a single pole.

Higher mounting heights may require additional bracing or larger cross-section arms. Increasing the number of supported fixtures or conductors may necessitate closer inspection of load limits and hardware selection.

Safety, Certifications, and Warranty

This product does not carry electrical ratings or formal certifications. All wood is CCA-treated for decay and insect resistance. The crossarm is supplied with a 7-year warranty covering material and manufacturing defects.

Follow all local codes and utility standards for installation and maintenance. Use only with compatible wood utility poles and approved mounting hardware.
