Our 65 foot Class 1 CCA Treated Southern Yellow Pine Poles are grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. They are manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. Poles are treated with preservatives to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards to ensure rot and decay prevention. The long term durability of a wood utility pole is one of its main benefits

These 65 ft wood poles are perfect for sports fields, baseball fields or used as utility poles. You can add 1-3 light arms per side, 2-6 in total, but no more than 3 per side. Each arm can accommodate 240 lbs per arm. The number of arms and lights depends on the class of the utility pole you select. The pole length will determine how significant the taper is as with all timber utility poles.

Options Available:

Cross Arms (2-6 per pole, 1-3 per side) and Mounting Brackets. The customer is responsible for mounting Cross Arm after the poles are delivered. Poles do not ship with cross arms attached.

These are the lights we typically mount on the cross arms. Up to 6 lights per arm, not to exceed 240 total pounds of fixtures and hardware.

Delivery is made with a standard flatbed truck depending on pole lengths and the customer is responsible for offloading. Offloading requires a fork lift or appropriate similar vehicle to offload ? customer supplied. Customer is responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment available at time of delivery. Installation should be done by a trained professional.

Pricing: Does not include price of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.

Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement. While our main product line is southern yellow pine, we at times are able to offer other species including douglas fir and red pine. CCA treatment generally will result in the poles being free of insects for decades to come.

Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1 year-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for a period of one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview

This is a 65-foot Class 1 Southern Yellow Pine wood pole manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. The pole is CCA treated to American Wood Preservers Association standards for rot and decay prevention. Total pole weight ranges from 3,590 to 4,230 pounds.

The pole is designed for direct burial installation with 8.5 feet set below grade, leaving 56.5 feet of usable height above ground. Minimum top diameter is 8.6 inches with a minimum circumference of 27 inches at the top. Six feet from the butt, minimum diameter is 15.8 inches with a minimum circumference of 49.5 inches.

This pole is grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. The Class 1 designation indicates the structural capacity of the pole, which determines load-bearing capability for mounted equipment.

Where This Product Fits Best

This 65-foot Class 1 pole is sized for sports field lighting, baseball field applications, and general utility installations where substantial above-grade height is required. The 56.5 feet of exposed height after burial accommodates elevated mounting positions for area lighting coverage across large outdoor spaces.

The cross arm capacity of 2 to 4 total arms with a maximum of 1 to 2 per side supports multi-fixture configurations. Each cross arm position can carry up to 240 pounds of fixtures and hardware, allowing multiple lighting heads per arm when total weight remains within limits.

Direct burial installation eliminates the need for a separate foundation structure. The 8.5-foot burial depth provides lateral stability for the full pole height under wind and equipment loading.

Performance and Functional Considerations

Class 1 is a high-capacity structural classification under ANSI O5.1. At 65 feet total length, this class provides the load margin needed for multiple cross arms with lighting equipment while maintaining structural integrity under environmental stress.

CCA treatment protects against biological degradation in ground contact and above-grade exposure. This preservative treatment is applied to current American Wood Preservers Association standards, which define retention levels and penetration depth for long-term service.

The taper from butt to top is inherent to wood utility poles. At this length, the diameter reduction from 15.8 inches near the base to 8.6 inches at the top is normal and accounted for in the ANSI structural classification.

Installation and Long-Term Use

This pole requires an 8.5-foot excavation for direct burial. Pole weight of 3,590 to 4,230 pounds requires crane or boom truck equipment for handling and setting. The buried section must be fully backfilled and compacted to achieve the rated lateral stability.

Cross arms are not attached at time of delivery. The installing crew is responsible for mounting cross arms after the pole is set. Cross arm mounting positions should account for the pole taper and the 1 to 2 arms per side maximum configuration.

Each cross arm supports up to 240 pounds total, including fixtures, mounting hardware, and any junction boxes or wiring enclosures. When planning multi-fixture arms, the combined weight of all components must stay within this limit.

How This Fixture Is Commonly Used

Once set, this pole serves as a permanent structure for elevated area lighting. The 56.5-foot above-grade height positions fixtures well above playing surfaces and surrounding obstructions, which is why these poles are used at baseball fields and sports complexes.

Operators typically mount between 2 and 4 cross arms total depending on coverage needs. Each arm can hold multiple fixtures as long as the 240-pound limit per arm is observed. Fixture aiming and any future lamp or driver service occur at height, so access equipment planning is part of ongoing maintenance.

The wood construction allows field drilling for brackets, junction boxes, and conduit straps. Any penetrations into the treated wood should be sealed to maintain preservative integrity at cut surfaces.
