Our 60 foot Class 2 CCA Treated Southern Yellow Pine Poles are grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. They are manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. Poles are treated with preservatives to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards to ensure rot and decay prevention. The long term durability of a wood utility pole is one of its main benefits
Cross arms are available for our Southern Yellow Pine poles as an optional accessory. Configuration and sizing are determined based on project requirements, as well as the height and class of the selected pole. We offer both 8-foot and 10-foot cross arms, our product specialists can help confirm the appropriate size for your application.
Delivery is made with a standard flatbed truck depending on pole lengths and the customer is responsible for offloading. Offloading requires a fork lift or appropriate similar vehicle to offload - customer supplied. Customer is responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment available at time of delivery. Installation should be done by a trained professional.
Pricing: Does not include price of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.
Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement. While our main product line is southern yellow pine, we at times are able to offer other species including Douglas fir and red pine. CCA treatment generally will result in the poles being free of insects for decades to come.
Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for a period of one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview
We supply 60 foot Class 2 wood poles manufactured from Southern Yellow Pine, CCA treated for long-term durability in outdoor environments. These poles are designed for direct burial installation and are specified for use in large-scale sports lighting, utility distribution, and municipal infrastructure projects. Each pole is produced to ANSI O5.1 standards and meets the requirements for heavy-duty field and area lighting support at significant mounting heights.
This pole is commonly used as a structural support for high mast sports field lighting, rural roadway lighting, and utility distribution lines. Typical installations include baseball, softball, and football fields, as well as municipal and agricultural sites requiring elevated mounting for floodlights or utility hardware.
Core Performance and Output
This 60 foot Class 2 wood pole supports substantial fixture loads and wind-exposed applications. The pole?s structural capacity is defined by its Class 2 rating, with a minimum top circumference of 25 inches and a 6-foot butt circumference of 45 inches. Weight ranges from 2750 to 3200 lbs, providing stability for high-elevation lighting and utility hardware.
Direct burial depth is 8 feet, resulting in 52 feet above grade for mounting. The CCA treatment ensures resistance to rot and decay, supporting long service life in outdoor environments. EPA (Effective Projected Area) and fixture weight limits should be confirmed based on site wind load calculations and local code requirements. Excessive fixture loading or mounting of large cross arms may require additional engineering review.
Adjustability and Control Options
Cross arms are available as optional accessories in 8-foot and 10-foot lengths, allowing for multiple fixture mounting configurations. Cross arm sizing and placement are determined by project requirements and pole class. Hardware and bracket options can be specified to accommodate various luminaire types and aiming needs.
Poles do not include integrated electrical controls or wiring. All fixture-level adjustability and control must be managed through the selected luminaires and external control systems. Field drilling for hardware or conduit entry should follow best practices to maintain pole integrity.
Longevity and Reliability
Southern Yellow Pine is selected for its strength and natural durability. CCA treatment is applied to American Wood Preservers Association standards, providing long-term resistance to decay, insects, and ground contact deterioration. Proper direct burial installation and backfill are required to achieve full service life.
Routine inspection is recommended to monitor for physical damage, woodpecker activity, or environmental wear. The pole is covered by a 1-year warranty. Actual service life is typically much longer when installed and maintained according to industry standards.
Build Quality and Physical Characteristics
Each pole is grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. Minimum top outside diameter is 8 inches, with a 14.3 inch diameter 6 feet from the butt. The pole?s weight and dimensions support high-mast lighting and utility applications where structural stability is critical.
CCA treatment provides a greenish hue and is suitable for direct ground contact. The pole is supplied without pre-drilled holes, allowing field adaptation for cross arms, luminaires, or utility hardware. All hardware and accessories should be specified for wood pole compatibility.
Where This Product Fits Best
This 60 foot Class 2 wood pole is suited for large outdoor environments requiring elevated mounting of lighting or utility equipment. Typical installations include sports fields, municipal sites, and rural infrastructure where steel or concrete poles are not preferred.
- baseball field lighting
- football field lighting
- sports field lighting
- utility distribution
- municipal lighting
- area lighting
- rural roadway lighting
- agricultural property lighting
CCA-treated Southern Yellow Pine is suitable for wet, humid, and ground-contact environments. The pole is not recommended for coastal or marine installations where saltwater exposure is present. Direct burial installation is required; above-grade mounting is not supported.
Installation and Long-Term Use
Direct burial installation requires an 8-foot embedment below grade, with proper backfill and compaction to ensure stability. Equipment for handling and setting poles of this size and weight is necessary. All field drilling for cross arms or hardware should be performed with care to avoid compromising structural integrity.
Routine maintenance includes periodic inspection for decay, insect activity, and hardware condition. Replacement of damaged cross arms or hardware should be performed as needed. The pole?s treated wood construction supports long-term use in outdoor environments with minimal ongoing maintenance.
How This Fixture Is Commonly Used
60 foot wood poles are typically installed for high-mast sports lighting and utility distribution, with mounting heights of 52 feet above grade. Fixture mounting patterns depend on cross arm configuration and project requirements. Poles are spaced to provide uniform coverage for large fields or area lighting, with spacing determined by lighting design and wind load considerations.
Higher mounting heights reduce the number of poles required for field coverage but may increase fixture count or wattage to achieve target light levels. Cross arm selection and fixture orientation are adjusted to meet site-specific aiming and uniformity needs.
Safety, Certifications, and Warranty
This pole is manufactured to ANSI O5.1 standards. CCA treatment is applied to American Wood Preservers Association specifications. The pole is supplied with a 1-year warranty covering material and workmanship.
All installation and handling should follow OSHA and local safety regulations. Proper lifting, rigging, and burial procedures are required due to the pole?s weight and length. Only qualified personnel should perform installation and maintenance.
