Our 55 foot Class 2 CCA Treated Southern Yellow Pine Poles are grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. They are manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. Poles are treated with preservatives to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards to ensure rot and decay prevention. The long term durability of a wood utility pole is one of its main benefits
These 55 ft wood poles are perfect for sports fields, baseball fields or used as utility poles. You can add 1-2 light arms per side, 2-4 in total, but no more than 2 per side. Each arm can accommodate 240 lbs per arm. The number of arms and lights depends on the class of the utility pole you select. The pole length will determine how significant the taper is as with all timber utility poles.
Options Available:
Cross Arms (2-4 per pole, 1-2 per side) and Mounting Brackets. The customer is responsible for mounting Cross Arm after the poles are delivered. Poles do not ship with cross arms attached.
These are the lights we typically mount on the cross arms. Up to 6 lights per arm, not to exceed 240 total pounds of fixtures and hardware.
Delivery is made with a standard flatbed truck depending on pole lengths and the customer is responsible for offloading. Offloading requires a fork lift or appropriate similar vehicle to offload ? customer supplied. Customer is responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment available at time of delivery. Installation should be done by a trained professional.
Pricing: Does not include price of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.
Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement. While our main product line is southern yellow pine, we at times are able to offer other species including douglas fir and red pine. CCA treatment generally will result in the poles being free of insects for decades to come.
Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1 year-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for a period of one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview
This is a 55-foot Class 2 wood utility pole made from Southern Yellow Pine and treated with CCA preservative. The pole is manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification and treated to American Wood Preservers Association standards for rot and decay prevention. Total pole weight ranges from 2,385 to 2,815 pounds.
The pole is designed for direct burial installation with 7.5 feet set below grade, leaving 47.5 feet of usable height above ground. Minimum circumference at the top is 25 inches (7.957-inch diameter), tapering to a minimum circumference of 43.5 inches (13.846-inch diameter) at 6 feet from the butt.
This pole supports 2 to 4 cross arms total, with a maximum of 2 cross arms per side. Each cross arm can carry up to 240 pounds of attached fixtures and hardware. Cross arms and mounting brackets are available separately and must be installed after pole delivery.
Where This Product Fits Best
This 55-foot Class 2 pole is sized for applications where fixture mounting heights near 47 feet above grade are required. Sports field lighting, baseball field lighting, and general utility applications are common uses for this pole class and height.
The 240-pound per-arm weight capacity accommodates multiple fixtures per cross arm. With up to 6 fixtures mountable per arm, the pole supports configurations where high lumen output is needed across a large coverage area. The 2-arm-per-side limit and 4-arm total capacity define the maximum fixture count the pole structure can support.
Direct burial installation requires appropriate soil conditions and equipment capable of handling poles in the 2,385 to 2,815 pound range. Sites without adequate access for delivery and installation equipment may require alternative approaches.
Performance and Functional Considerations
Class 2 poles provide a defined strength rating under ANSI O5.1. The class rating, combined with the 55-foot total length, determines the load-bearing capacity and taper profile. Taper increases with pole length, which is reflected in the difference between the top diameter of 7.957 inches and the 13.846-inch diameter at 6 feet from the butt.
CCA treatment protects against rot, decay, and insect damage. This preservative treatment is applied to American Wood Preservers Association standards, which establishes the penetration and retention levels required for long-term ground contact exposure.
The weight range of 2,385 to 2,815 pounds accounts for natural variation in wood density. Installation planning should assume the upper end of this range for equipment sizing and handling logistics.
Installation and Long-Term Use
This pole requires direct burial to a depth of 7.5 feet. Proper hole preparation and backfill are critical for long-term stability, particularly when the pole is loaded with cross arms and fixtures at height. The buried portion of the pole is where CCA treatment provides the most value, as this section is in continuous contact with soil moisture.
Cross arms do not ship attached to the pole. Field installation of cross arms and mounting brackets is required after the pole is set. Cross arm attachment hardware and installation method should account for the full 240-pound load rating per arm.
The 1-year warranty covers the pole as delivered. Site-specific conditions, installation quality, and loading configurations affect long-term pole performance beyond the warranty period.
How This Fixture Is Commonly Used
Once installed, this pole serves as the permanent mounting structure for elevated fixtures. The 47.5 feet of height above grade positions fixtures well above playing surfaces and surrounding structures, which is why this height is used for sports field and athletic lighting applications.
Maintenance personnel access fixtures mounted on this pole using bucket trucks or climbing equipment rated for the working height. Cross arm positioning determines fixture aim angles and spacing across the illuminated area. With up to 2 cross arms per side, fixtures can be oriented in multiple directions from a single pole location.
The 240-pound per-arm limit is a working constraint that must be observed when adding or replacing fixtures. Fixture weight, mounting hardware weight, and any attached accessories all count toward this limit.
Safety, Certifications, and Warranty
