Our CCA Treated 45 Foot Wood Pole Class 1 Treated Ponderosa Pine Poles are grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. They are manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. Poles are pressure treated and preservative treated to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards to prevent damage from termites, decay and rot regardless of the species used.
Delivery is made with a flatbed truck and the customer is responsible for offloading. Offloading requires a fork lift or appropriate similar vehicle to offload - customer supplied. Customers are responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment or area to store poles available at the time of delivery. Please contact a sales representative prior to purchasing to ensure all the project details are clear.
Pricing: Does not include cost of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.
Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement.
Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview
This 45 Foot Wood Pole, Class 1, is manufactured from CCA-treated Ponderosa Pine and built to ANSI O5.1 standards. Designed for direct burial installation, it is commonly specified for large-scale outdoor lighting and utility support in sports and municipal environments. Typical use includes mounting sports field lighting at heights suitable for baseball, softball, and soccer fields, as well as supporting area and utility distribution in rural and recreational settings.
The pole provides a total length of 45 feet, with 38.5 feet above grade after installation. It is pressure treated to resist decay, termites, and rot, supporting long-term structural integrity in exposed outdoor conditions. Weight ranges from 1225 to 1450 lbs, with dimensions and treatment suitable for demanding field and area lighting applications.
Core Performance and Output
This Class 1 wood pole is engineered for high structural capacity, supporting large fixture loads and extended mounting heights. The minimum pole top circumference is 27 inches, with a 47.5-inch circumference measured 6 feet from the butt, providing robust support for multiple sports lighting fixtures or utility crossarms. The pole?s CCA treatment ensures resistance to environmental degradation, maintaining strength in wet or insect-prone locations.
Direct burial installation at 6.5 feet below grade delivers stability for wind loads encountered in open field and stadium environments. The pole?s size and class rating are suitable for mounting high-output floodlights or area lights at heights up to 38.5 feet above grade. Excessive fixture weight or wind area (EPA) beyond standard sports lighting layouts may require structural review.
Adjustability and Control Options
This wood pole does not include integrated adjustability or control features. Fixture mounting, aiming, and control are determined by the hardware and lighting system selected for installation. The pole?s diameter and circumference support a range of bracket and crossarm options for sports and area lighting layouts.
Any control systems, such as remote switching or dimming, must be specified and installed as part of the lighting package. The pole itself provides a stable mounting platform for these systems but does not include built-in electrical or control accommodations.
Longevity and Reliability
Pressure treatment with CCA extends the service life of the Ponderosa Pine pole by protecting against rot, decay, and insect damage. The pole is manufactured to meet ANSI O5.1 and American Wood Preservers Association standards, supporting reliable long-term use in outdoor environments.
Routine inspection is recommended to monitor for mechanical damage or ground line deterioration over time. The 1-year warranty covers manufacturing defects. Actual service life is influenced by site conditions, installation quality, and ongoing maintenance practices.
Build Quality and Physical Characteristics
This pole is constructed from Ponderosa Pine, debarked and pressure treated for outdoor durability. The minimum pole top outside diameter is 8.6 inches, with a 15.1-inch diameter 6 feet from the butt. Weight varies from 1225 to 1450 lbs depending on wood density and moisture content at the time of treatment.
Direct burial installation requires a 6.5-foot embedment below grade, with the remaining 38.5 feet above ground. The pole?s Class 1 rating ensures high strength for demanding sports and area lighting applications. All dimensions and treatments comply with ANSI and AWPA standards.
Where This Product Fits Best
This 45-foot Class 1 wood pole is suited for large outdoor sports fields, recreational areas, and municipal sites requiring elevated lighting or utility support. It is commonly used where direct burial installation and high mounting heights are needed for field illumination or area coverage.
- baseball field lighting
- soccer field lighting
- football field lighting
- sports field lighting
- driving range lighting
- recreational field lighting
- area lighting
- rural roadway lighting
The CCA-treated Ponderosa Pine construction is suitable for outdoor environments with exposure to weather, insects, and ground moisture. Not recommended for coastal or marine environments where salt exposure is present.
Installation and Long-Term Use
Direct burial installation requires excavation to a depth of 6.5 feet, with proper backfill and compaction for stability. The pole?s weight and length require equipment for handling and setting. Standard practice includes mounting crossarms or brackets for lighting fixtures at heights up to 38.5 feet above grade.
Long-term use depends on site drainage, soil conditions, and periodic inspection for ground line decay. Hardware selection should match the pole?s diameter and circumference at the intended mounting height. Routine maintenance includes checking for mechanical damage and verifying fixture attachment integrity.
How This Fixture Is Commonly Used
Typical installations place these poles at the perimeter of sports fields or recreational areas, spaced to provide uniform lighting coverage. Mounting heights up to 38.5 feet above grade allow for wide-area illumination with reduced glare and improved light distribution. Fixture spacing and aiming are determined by the lighting design and field layout.
Poles are often spaced 80?150 feet apart for large fields, depending on fixture wattage and beam spread. Higher mounting heights reduce the number of poles needed but may require larger fixtures and careful aiming to control spill light.
Safety, Certifications, and Warranty
This pole is manufactured to ANSI O5.1 standards and treated to American Wood Preservers Association specifications. CCA treatment provides resistance to decay, termites, and fungal attack. The product carries a 1-year warranty covering manufacturing defects.
All handling and installation should follow applicable safety guidelines for heavy timber poles. Use appropriate lifting equipment and follow local codes for burial depth and grounding.
