Our CCA Treated 40 Foot Wood Pole Class 5 Treated Ponderosa Pine Poles are grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. They are manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. Poles are pressure treated and preservative treated to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards to prevent damage from termites, decay and rot regardless of the species used.

Our 40 ft round wood poles are perfect for sports fields, baseball fields, and a utility pole project. You can add up to 4 light arms per pole. Each arm can accommodate 240 lbs per arm. Number of arms and lights depends on the class of pole you select. The class will determine the diameter at the base. Availability can change based on the quantity and length required as different sizes can have different lead times. Our poles are built with durability in mind to ensure long-lasting performance.

Options Available:

Cross Arms (4 per pole, 2 per side) and Mounting Brackets. Customer is responsible for mounting Cross Arm after poles are delivered. Poles do not ship with cross arms attached.

These are the lights we typically mount on the cross arms. Up to 6 lights per arm, not to exceed 240 total pounds of fixtures and hardware.

Delivery is made with a flatbed truck and the customer is responsible for offloading. Offloading requires a fork lift or appropriate similar vehicle to offload – customer supplied. Customers are responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment or area to store poles available at the time of delivery. Please contact a sales representative prior to purchasing to ensure all the project details are clear.

Pricing: Does not include cost of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.

Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement.

Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview

This is a 40 foot Class 5 wood utility pole made from Ponderosa Pine. The pole is pressure treated with CCA for outdoor durability and long-term resistance to decay and insects.

The pole is designed for direct burial installation, with 34 feet above grade and 6 feet below grade. It is manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification and meets commercial-grade requirements for structural support.

The minimum pole top circumference is 19 inches, and the circumference 6 feet from the butt is 34 inches. The pole weight ranges from 600 to 710 pounds.

This pole supports up to 4 cross arms, with a maximum of 2 per side. Each cross arm can support up to 240 pounds of fixtures and hardware.

Where This Product Fits Best

This 40 foot Class 5 wood pole is suitable for outdoor lighting installations where direct burial is preferred. It is commonly used in sports fields, baseball fields, and utility lighting projects.

The pole is appropriate for applications requiring up to 4 cross arms and a total fixture load of up to 240 pounds per arm. The treated Ponderosa Pine construction is intended for environments where resistance to decay and insects is required.

Use this pole when a combination of height, load capacity, and treated wood construction is needed for long-term outdoor use.

Performance and Functional Considerations

The Class 5 rating defines the pole's structural capacity and minimum dimensions. The pole can support up to 4 cross arms, with each arm rated for a maximum of 240 pounds.

CCA treatment provides protection against termites, decay, and rot. The direct burial design eliminates the need for separate mounting foundations.

The pole's weight and dimensions should be considered when planning for handling, transport, and installation. The minimum pole top outside diameter is 6 inches, and the outside diameter 6 feet from the butt is 10.8 inches.

Installation and Long-Term Use

This pole is installed using direct burial, with 6 feet of the pole set below grade. Proper backfill and compaction are required to ensure stability and long-term performance.

Cross arms and mounting brackets are available as options. Cross arms are not attached at delivery and must be mounted on site by the installer.

The CCA treatment extends the service life of the pole in outdoor environments. Routine inspection for physical damage and hardware condition is recommended as part of long-term maintenance.

How This Fixture Is Commonly Used

After installation, this pole is used to support lighting fixtures and hardware mounted on cross arms. The number of fixtures per arm is determined by the 240 pound per arm capacity and the physical space available.

Operators typically mount up to 6 lights per arm, ensuring the total weight does not exceed the arm's rated capacity. The pole's height and structural class allow for elevated lighting coverage in large outdoor areas.

Adjustments or changes to fixture placement can be made by repositioning or replacing cross arms as needed. The treated wood construction is relied upon for long-term outdoor exposure.
