This 40 foot Ponderosa Pine pole, pressure treated with CCA and built to ANSI Class 5 standards, is a practical choice for outdoor lighting and utility projects requiring direct burial installation. Its defined strength and dimensional profile support up to 4 cross arms, making it suitable for roadway, parking lot, perimeter security, and utility distribution applications where a 34 foot mounting height is needed. The CCA treatment protects against decay, rot, and termites, allowing reliable long-term use in varied soil and climate conditions without additional protective measures, and the direct burial design simplifies installation and ongoing maintenance.

Our CCA Treated 40 Foot Wood Pole Class 5 Treated Ponderosa Pine Poles are grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. They are manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. Poles are pressure treated and preservative treated to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards to prevent damage from termites, decay and rot regardless of the species used.

Delivery is made with a flatbed truck and the customer is responsible for offloading. Offloading requires a fork lift or appropriate similar vehicle to offload – customer supplied. Customers are responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment or area to store poles available at the time of delivery. Please contact a sales representative prior to purchasing to ensure all the project details are clear.

Pricing: Does not include cost of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.

Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement.

Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview

This 40 foot Class 5 wood utility pole is a direct-burial structural support pole made from Ponderosa pine. It provides 34 feet of height above grade after installation with 6 feet buried below grade.

The pole is CCA treated and manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. It is used where a wood pole is required for sports field lighting, utility distribution, rural roadway lighting, and related outdoor infrastructure.

Core Performance and Output

This pole has a Class 5 ANSI rating and weighs approximately 600 to 710 pounds. Minimum top diameter is 6 inches, with a minimum top circumference of 19 inches.

The pole diameter is 10.8 inches at 6 feet from the butt, with a minimum circumference of 34 inches at that location. Fixture loading, wind exposure, and attached equipment requirements must be evaluated for the specific pole layout because fixture EPA ratings and mounting loads are not provided.

Adjustability and Control Options

This is a fixed-height wood pole with a direct-burial installation method. The installed height is established by the 6 foot burial depth.

The pole does not include lighting controls, electrical components, or fixture mounting hardware. Any controls, wiring, fixtures, and attachment methods are separate project components.

Longevity and Reliability

The Ponderosa pine pole is pressure treated with CCA preservative treatment. The treatment is intended to prevent damage from termites, decay, and rot.

The pole is grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. Long-term condition depends on proper installation, site conditions, and inspection of the exposed pole and below-grade area.

Build Quality and Physical Characteristics

This pole is constructed from Ponderosa pine and has a 40 foot overall length. Its 34 foot above-grade height and 6 foot below-grade section support direct burial installation.

Weight varies from 600 to 710 pounds. Handling equipment and installation methods need to account for pole length, weight, and the direct-burial installation requirement.

Where This Product Fits Best

This pole fits outdoor installations requiring a 34 foot above-grade wood support structure. It is commonly used for field lighting and utility-related outdoor projects where direct burial is part of the site design.

  • baseball field lighting
  • football field lighting
  • soccer field lighting
  • sports field lighting
  • driving range lighting
  • rural roadway lighting

The CCA-treated wood construction is intended for outdoor exposure and below-grade installation. Final pole suitability depends on the required fixture load, attached equipment, and site-specific structural conditions.

Installation and Long-Term Use

This pole installs by direct burial with 6 feet below grade and 34 feet remaining above grade. Installation planning must account for the full 40 foot pole length, pole weight, excavation, and lifting access.

Inspect the pole before installation for shipping damage and confirm the installed orientation and attachment layout before setting the pole. Long-term maintenance should include periodic inspection of the exposed wood, fixture attachments, and utility-related equipment where used.

How This Fixture Is Commonly Used

The pole provides a 34 foot above-grade mounting elevation for baseball field lighting, football field lighting, soccer field lighting, and sports field lighting. In rural roadway lighting and driving range lighting layouts, pole placement follows the required lighting design and site conditions.

Spacing and pole layout vary with fixture selection, target light levels, field dimensions, and attachment loading. A taller support position can reduce pole count in some layouts, but fixture aiming, glare control, and structural loading still need project-specific review.

Safety, Certifications, and Warranty

This pole is manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. It is pressure treated to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards.

The pole includes a 1-year warranty. Direct-burial installation, lifting operations, electrical work, and fixture attachment work must be completed using appropriate site safety procedures.
