Our CCA Treated 40 Foot Wood Pole Class 5 Treated Ponderosa Pine Poles are grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. They are manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. Poles are pressure treated and preservative treated to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards to prevent damage from termites, decay and rot regardless of the species used.

Our 40 ft round wood poles are perfect for sports fields, baseball fields, and a utility pole project. You can add up to 4 light arms per pole. Each arm can accommodate 240 lbs per arm. Number of arms and lights depends on the class of pole you select. The class will determine the diameter at the base. Availability can change based on the quantity and length required as different sizes can have different lead times. Our poles are built with durability in mind to ensure long-lasting performance.

Options Available:

Cross Arms (4 per pole, 2 per side) and Mounting Brackets. Customer is responsible for mounting Cross Arm after poles are delivered. Poles do not ship with cross arms attached.

These are the lights we typically mount on the cross arms. Up to 6 lights per arm, not to exceed 240 total pounds of fixtures and hardware.

Delivery is made with a flatbed truck and the customer is responsible for offloading. Offloading requires a fork lift or appropriate similar vehicle to offload ? customer supplied. Customers are responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment or area to store poles available at the time of delivery. Please contact a sales representative prior to purchasing to ensure all the project details are clear.

Pricing: Does not include cost of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.

Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement.

Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1 year-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview

This is a 40-foot Class 5 wood utility pole made from Ponderosa Pine, pressure treated with CCA preservative. The pole is manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification and treated to American Wood Preservers Association standards for protection against termites, decay, and rot.

Total height is 40 feet with 34 feet above grade and 6 feet buried below grade. The pole weighs between 600 and 710 pounds. Minimum circumference at the top is 19 inches (6.047-inch diameter), and minimum circumference at 6 feet from the butt is 34 inches (10.822-inch diameter).

The pole supports up to 4 cross arms total, with a maximum of 2 cross arms per side. Each cross arm can hold up to 240 pounds of mounted fixtures and hardware.

Where This Product Fits Best

This pole is intended for direct burial installation in applications requiring a 34-foot mounting height above grade. Sports fields and baseball fields are common uses where elevated lighting positions are needed to cover large open areas.

The Class 5 ANSI rating defines the structural capacity and taper of this pole. The 240-pound per-arm weight limit and 4-arm maximum determine how many fixtures can be mounted. Applications requiring heavier fixture loads or more mounting positions may need a different pole class with a larger base diameter.

Performance and Functional Considerations

CCA treatment provides long-term resistance to termites, decay, and rot. This treatment is applied under pressure and meets current American Wood Preservers Association standards.

The 6-foot burial depth is fixed for this pole height. Site conditions including soil type and local code requirements should be verified before installation. The 600 to 710 pound weight range reflects natural variation in wood density.

Cross arms are sold separately and ship unattached. The installer is responsible for mounting cross arms after the pole is delivered and set.

Installation and Long-Term Use

This pole is designed for direct burial without a concrete foundation, though site conditions may dictate otherwise. Equipment capable of handling 600 to 710 pounds is required for transport and setting. The 6-foot below-grade depth must be maintained for proper structural support.

Cross arm installation occurs after the pole is in place. Each arm position can support up to 240 pounds, including the combined weight of fixtures, brackets, and mounting hardware. Up to 6 fixtures per arm is possible depending on individual fixture weight.

Ongoing maintenance is limited to periodic inspection of the pole, cross arms, and mounted equipment. The CCA treatment provides passive protection against biological degradation throughout the service life of the pole.

How This Fixture Is Commonly Used

Facility operators use this pole where elevated light positioning is needed across large outdoor areas. The 34-foot above-grade height places fixtures high enough to spread light across fields while keeping them accessible for future service with standard lift equipment.

Cross arms allow fixtures to be oriented in multiple directions from a single pole location. With 2 arms per side and up to 240 pounds per arm, operators can configure lighting angles to suit field geometry without adding pole locations.

The direct burial design simplifies site preparation compared to poles requiring anchor bases or concrete piers. Once set, the pole requires no routine adjustment. Fixture aiming and replacement happen at the cross arm level.

Safety, Certifications, and Warranty

This pole is manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. Treatment conforms to American Wood Preservers Association standards.

This product carries a 1-year warranty.
