Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement.

Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview

This 40 foot wood utility pole is a Class 3 Ponderosa Pine pole for direct burial installation. It provides 34 feet of height above grade with 6 feet installed below grade.

The pole is CCA treated and manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specifications. It is used where a wood pole structure is required for sports field lighting, utility distribution, rural roadway lighting, and similar listed pole applications.

Core Performance and Output

Structural performance is based on the 40 foot overall length, Class 3 ANSI rating, direct burial configuration, and wood pole dimensions. The pole weighs 775 to 925 pounds and has a minimum top circumference of 23 inches.

The minimum circumference at 6 feet from the butt is 39.5 inches, with a 12.6 inch outside diameter at that location. Fixture load, EPA requirements, wind loading, and attachment hardware requirements must be verified for the planned installation because those ratings are not provided.

Adjustability and Control Options

This is a fixed-length wood pole with no height adjustment, lighting controls, or electrical components included. The installed elevation is established by the 6 foot direct burial depth.

The pole top and attachment arrangement must be determined by the equipment being mounted. Mounting hardware is not included in the supplied product data.

Longevity and Reliability

The Ponderosa Pine pole is pressure treated with CCA preservative treatment. Treatment is performed to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards.

The treatment is intended to prevent damage from termites, decay, and rot. The pole includes a 1 year warranty.

Build Quality and Physical Characteristics

The pole is grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. It is manufactured from Ponderosa Pine and built to ANSI O5.1 specifications.

Minimum top outside diameter is 7.3 inches. The larger butt-end dimensions support direct burial installation and the required below-grade embedment.

Where This Product Fits Best

This pole fits listed sports field, utility distribution, rural roadway, and agricultural property applications that use direct-buried wood pole structures. Its 34 foot above-grade height suits projects requiring a substantial elevated mounting point.

  • football field lighting
  • baseball field lighting and softball field lighting
  • soccer field lighting and sports field lighting
  • driving range lighting
  • recreational field lighting
  • utility distribution

CCA treatment supports outdoor direct-burial use where exposure to termites, decay, and rot is a concern. Final pole selection must account for the attached equipment and applicable structural loading requirements.

Installation and Long-Term Use

Installation uses direct burial with 6 feet of the pole below grade and 34 feet above grade. The pole weight of 775 to 925 pounds requires appropriate handling equipment during unloading, positioning, and setting.

Installer planning should confirm the excavation, pole orientation, attachment arrangement, and final above-grade elevation before the pole is set. The fixed 6 foot burial depth leaves no field adjustment to increase the installed height.

How This Fixture Is Commonly Used

For baseball field lighting, softball field lighting, soccer field lighting, football field lighting, and sports field lighting, the pole provides a 34 foot above-grade mounting elevation after direct burial. Pole locations follow the field layout and the planned position of attached lighting equipment.

For driving range lighting, recreational field lighting, rural roadway lighting, agricultural property lighting, and utility distribution, placement follows the site layout and required equipment attachment points. Pole spacing and quantity depend on the project layout, attached equipment, and required coverage.

Safety, Certifications, and Warranty

This pole has a Class 3 ANSI rating. It is manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specifications.

CCA preservative treatment is performed to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards. The warranty period is 1 year.
