Our CCA Treated 40 Foot Wood Pole Class 2 Treated Ponderosa Pine Poles are grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. They are manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. Poles are pressure treated and preservative treated to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards to prevent damage from termites, decay and rot regardless of the species used.

Delivery is made with a flatbed truck and the customer is responsible for offloading. Offloading requires a fork lift or appropriate similar vehicle to offload - customer supplied. Customers are responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment or area to store poles available at the time of delivery. Please contact a sales representative prior to purchasing to ensure all the project details are clear.

Pricing: Does not include cost of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.

Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement.

Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview

We supply a 40 Foot Wood Pole, Class 2, manufactured from CCA-treated Ponderosa Pine. This pole is designed for direct burial installation and meets ANSI O5.1 standards for structural performance and dimensional consistency. Typical use includes supporting sports field lighting and utility distribution in outdoor environments where wood poles are preferred for their strength and natural resilience.

This pole provides 34 feet of height above grade after installation, with a 6-foot burial depth for stability. It is commonly specified for large-scale sports lighting projects, municipal lighting, and rural utility distribution where mounting heights of 30 feet or more are required.

Core Performance and Output

This Class 2 wood pole supports substantial fixture and crossarm loads, with a minimum top circumference of 25 inches and a 6-foot-from-butt circumference of 42.5 inches. The pole weight ranges from 900 to 1080 lbs, providing the mass and rigidity needed for high-mast lighting and utility applications. Structural performance is governed by ANSI O5.1, ensuring reliable wind load and environmental resistance for typical sports field and area lighting installations.

Direct burial installation and CCA treatment provide long-term resistance to decay, termites, and ground contact deterioration. The 40-foot length allows for mounting heights suitable for baseball, softball, and football field lighting, as well as rural roadway and area lighting. Excessive fixture weight or wind area (EPA) at the top may require engineering review to confirm suitability for clustered or high-output lighting arrays.

Adjustability and Control Options

This wood pole is a fixed structural element with no built-in adjustability. Fixture mounting, crossarm installation, and bracket placement are determined by field requirements and hardware selection. The pole accommodates standard through-bolt and lag-bolt mounting methods for lighting and utility hardware.

Control options are determined by the fixtures and electrical systems installed on the pole. The pole itself does not include integrated wiring or control features.

Longevity and Reliability

Pressure treatment with CCA preservative extends service life by protecting against rot, decay, and insect damage. Ponderosa Pine is selected for its structural integrity and suitability for outdoor use. Compliance with ANSI O5.1 and AWPA standards ensures consistent performance across all supplied poles.

Routine inspection and maintenance of pole condition, especially at the ground line, are recommended for long-term reliability. Service life is influenced by soil conditions, climate, and installation practices. The product includes a 1-year warranty.

Build Quality and Physical Characteristics

This pole is manufactured from solid Ponderosa Pine, debarked and pressure treated to meet utility and lighting industry requirements. Minimum top outside diameter is 8 inches, with a 13.5-inch diameter 6 feet from the butt. The pole is supplied in the 40-foot length, with 6 feet intended for burial below grade.

Each pole is produced in the United States and meets dimensional and treatment specifications for Class 2 utility poles. The natural wood finish is preserved by CCA treatment, providing a balance of strength, durability, and environmental resistance for outdoor installations.

Where This Product Fits Best

This 40 Foot Class 2 wood pole is suited for outdoor environments requiring elevated mounting heights and robust structural support. Typical installations include sports fields, rural roadways, and municipal lighting projects where direct burial and wood construction are preferred.

  • baseball field lighting
  • football field lighting
  • sports field lighting
  • utility distribution
  • area lighting
  • municipal lighting
  • parking lot lighting
  • agricultural property lighting

CCA treatment and direct burial design allow use in a range of climates and soil conditions. The pole is not intended for coastal or marine environments where salt exposure is present.

Installation and Long-Term Use

Installation requires excavation for a 6-foot burial depth, with backfill and tamping to secure the pole. Standard pole setting and alignment practices apply. The pole supports through-bolt and lag-bolt hardware for mounting luminaires, crossarms, and utility equipment.

Long-term use depends on soil drainage, periodic inspection, and avoidance of excessive fixture loading. Direct ground contact is mitigated by CCA treatment, but ground line inspection is recommended as part of routine maintenance. Replacement cycles are typically driven by mechanical damage or end-of-life decay.

How This Fixture Is Commonly Used

Commonly installed at sports fields and large outdoor areas, this pole supports mounting heights of 30 to 34 feet above grade. Fixture spacing and layout are determined by lighting design requirements, with poles often set at field perimeters or parking lot boundaries. Crossarms or brackets are used to support multiple luminaires as needed.

Fixture count and spacing vary based on light level targets and field size. Higher mounting heights reduce glare and improve uniformity but may require higher output fixtures or closer pole spacing to achieve target illumination.

Safety, Certifications, and Warranty

This pole is manufactured to ANSI O5.1 standards and treated to AWPA specifications. CCA treatment provides resistance to decay and insect damage. The product is supplied with a 1-year warranty covering material and manufacturing defects.

All handling and installation should follow standard safety procedures for wood utility poles, including proper lifting, setting, and grounding practices where required by code.
