Our CCA Treated 40 Foot Wood Pole Class 2 Treated Ponderosa Pine Poles are grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. They are manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. Poles are pressure treated and preservative treated to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards to prevent damage from termites, decay and rot regardless of the species used.
Our 40 ft round wood poles are perfect for sports fields, baseball fields, and a utility pole project. You can add up to 4 light arms per pole. Each arm can accommodate 240 lbs per arm. Number of arms and lights depends on the class of pole you select. The class will determine the diameter at the base. Availability can change based on the quantity and length required as different sizes can have different lead times. Our poles are built with durability in mind to ensure long-lasting performance.
Options Available:
Cross Arms (4 per pole, 2 per side) and Mounting Brackets. Customer is responsible for mounting Cross Arm after poles are delivered. Poles do not ship with cross arms attached.
These are the lights we typically mount on the cross arms. Up to 6 lights per arm, not to exceed 240 total pounds of fixtures and hardware.
Delivery is made with a flatbed truck and the customer is responsible for offloading. Offloading requires a fork lift or appropriate similar vehicle to offload - customer supplied. Customers are responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment or area to store poles available at the time of delivery. Please contact a sales representative prior to purchasing to ensure all the project details are clear.
Pricing: Does not include cost of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.
Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement.
Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview
This is a 40 foot Class 2 wood utility pole made from Ponderosa Pine. The pole is CCA treated for durability and long-term outdoor use. It is designed for direct burial installation, with 34 feet above grade and 6 feet below grade.
The pole meets ANSI Class 2 requirements and is manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. It weighs between 900 and 1080 pounds, with a minimum top circumference of 25 inches and a minimum circumference of 42.5 inches measured 6 feet from the butt.
The pole is suitable for supporting up to four crossarms, with a maximum capacity of 240 pounds per arm. Crossarms and mounting brackets are available as options and are installed after the pole is set.
This pole is intended for commercial-grade applications, including utility and lighting projects where a treated wood pole is required.
Where This Product Fits Best
This 40 foot Class 2 Ponderosa Pine pole is used in outdoor environments where a tall, durable wood pole is needed for mounting lighting or utility equipment. It is commonly installed at sports fields, baseball fields, and other large outdoor venues.
The pole is also suitable for utility distribution projects and commercial lighting installations that require direct burial wood poles with high load capacity. It is designed to support multiple crossarms and fixtures within the specified weight limits.
Use this pole where a treated wood structure is preferred or required by site conditions or project specifications. The CCA treatment allows for installation in areas exposed to weather, insects, and soil contact.
Performance and Functional Considerations
The pole supports up to four crossarms, with a maximum of two per side. Each crossarm can carry up to 240 pounds, including fixtures and hardware. The number of arms and total load must not exceed these limits.
With a minimum pole top outside diameter of 8 inches and 13.5 inches at 6 feet from the butt, the pole provides the structural strength required for Class 2 applications. The CCA treatment protects the wood from decay, rot, and termite damage.
The pole's direct burial design requires a 6 foot embedment below grade, resulting in 34 feet of usable height above ground. This installation method is standard for wood utility poles and provides stability for tall mounting applications.
Installation and Long-Term Use
Installation is by direct burial, with 6 feet of the pole set below grade. The pole is supplied without crossarms attached; crossarms and mounting brackets are installed on site after the pole is set.
The CCA treatment extends the service life of the pole in outdoor and soil-contact environments. Routine inspection and maintenance are recommended to monitor for physical damage or environmental wear over time.
The pole's weight and dimensions require appropriate equipment for handling and setting during installation. Ensure all mounting hardware and crossarms are installed according to project requirements and within the specified load limits.
How This Fixture Is Commonly Used
After installation, this 40 foot wood pole is used to support lighting fixtures, utility lines, or other equipment mounted on crossarms. The pole's height allows for wide-area coverage in sports fields and large outdoor spaces.
Operators can mount up to four crossarms, with each arm supporting multiple fixtures as long as the total weight per arm does not exceed 240 pounds. This allows for flexible arrangement of lights or equipment based on site needs.
Once set, the pole requires minimal interaction beyond periodic inspection. Adjustments or additions to mounted equipment should always respect the pole's load and arm capacity limits.
