40 Foot Wood Pole | Class 2 | Treated | Ponderosa Pine
This 40-foot Class 2 Ponderosa Pine utility pole is a strong choice for commercial and industrial projects requiring reliable support for overhead lines or area lighting, thanks to its ANSI O5.1 Class 2 structural rating and CCA treatment for resistance to decay and insects. The direct burial design with 34 feet above grade provides ample clearance for roadway lighting, utility distribution, or large-area lighting, while the specified diameters ensure compatibility with standard hardware and crossarms. It is best suited for outdoor environments where wood pole infrastructure is standard.

Our CCA Treated 40 Foot Wood Pole Class 2 Treated Ponderosa Pine Poles are grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. They are manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. Poles are pressure treated and preservative treated to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards to prevent damage from termites, decay and rot regardless of the species used.
Delivery is made with a flatbed truck and the customer is responsible for offloading. Offloading requires a fork lift or appropriate similar vehicle to offload - customer supplied. Customers are responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment or area to store poles available at the time of delivery. Please contact a sales representative prior to purchasing to ensure all the project details are clear.
Pricing: Does not include cost of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.
Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement.
Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview
This 40 foot wood pole is manufactured from CCA treated Ponderosa Pine and meets ANSI Class 2 requirements. It is designed for direct burial installation with a total length of 40 feet and 6 feet below grade. The pole has a minimum top outside diameter of 8 inches and a 13.5 inch diameter measured 6 feet from the base. Each pole is pressure treated to resist decay, termites, and rot, and is compliant with current American Wood Preservers Association standards. The pole is produced, debarked, and treated in the United States.
With a weight range of 900 to 1080 pounds, this pole is engineered for outdoor structural support in demanding environments. The CCA treatment extends service life in exposed conditions. The pole is supplied with a 1 year warranty.
Where This Product Fits Best
This 40 foot treated wood pole is used in outdoor environments where elevated mounting is required for lighting, security, or infrastructure. It is commonly installed in sports venues, equestrian facilities, and utility corridors where direct burial wood poles are preferred for their structural and environmental characteristics.
- Sports field and stadium lighting pole installations
- Horse arena lighting and netting support
- Security camera mounting in large outdoor areas
- Sports netting and barrier support structures
- Utility and area lighting pole applications
These environments require poles that can withstand outdoor exposure, soil contact, and variable weather. The pole?s treated wood construction and direct burial design are suited for locations with moderate to high wind loads, soil moisture, and the need for reliable long-term support of mounted equipment.
Performance and Functional Considerations
The pole?s ANSI Class 2 rating and CCA treatment provide structural integrity and resistance to biological degradation. The 8 inch minimum top diameter and 13.5 inch diameter at 6 feet from the base support mounting of heavy fixtures, crossarms, or netting hardware. The 6 foot burial depth ensures stability in a range of soil types.
Direct burial installation eliminates the need for anchor bases or concrete foundations. The Ponderosa Pine material is selected for its strength and workability. The pole?s dimensions and treatment allow for use in areas with exposure to moisture, insects, and temperature fluctuations.
Weight and handling requirements should be considered during delivery and installation. The pole is compatible with standard outdoor lighting, security, and netting hardware designed for wood pole mounting.
Service life is influenced by site conditions, installation practices, and ongoing maintenance. The CCA treatment is intended to extend durability in typical outdoor applications.
Installation and Long-Term Use
This pole is installed using direct burial methods, with 6 feet of the pole set below grade. Proper backfill and compaction are required to achieve full structural capacity. The pole?s weight and length require equipment for handling and placement.
Mounting hardware for lighting, cameras, or netting should be selected for compatibility with wood poles and the expected load. Periodic inspection is recommended to monitor for signs of damage, decay, or ground movement.
The CCA treatment protects against rot and insect attack, but ground contact and environmental exposure will affect long-term performance. Maintenance may include hardware tightening, surface inspection, and treatment of any exposed wood.
Replacement or removal should follow local guidelines for treated wood disposal. The pole?s service life will depend on installation quality and site-specific conditions.
How This Fixture Is Commonly Used
After installation, this pole provides elevated mounting for area lighting fixtures, sports field luminaires, or security cameras. In sports venues, it is used to support high-mast lighting or netting systems, allowing for clear sightlines and unobstructed play areas. In equestrian and arena settings, the pole is used for both lighting and netting support, with hardware attached at various heights as required by the application.
For security and surveillance, cameras and sensors are mounted at the top or along the pole to maximize coverage. In utility and area lighting applications, the pole supports luminaires, crossarms, or distribution equipment. Adjustments and maintenance are performed using bucket trucks or climbing gear, depending on site access and pole height.
The pole?s treated surface and structural dimensions allow for repeated hardware changes or fixture upgrades over its service life. Environmental exposure is managed through periodic inspection and maintenance of both the pole and mounted equipment.
Safety, Certifications, and Warranty
This pole is manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification and is AWPA compliant. The CCA treatment meets current American Wood Preservers Association standards. The pole is supplied with a 1 year warranty. Handling and installation should follow standard safety practices for heavy wood poles and treated materials.
Direct burial installation requires attention to soil conditions, burial depth, and compaction to ensure stability. Personal protective equipment is recommended during handling and installation. Treated wood should not be cut or drilled without appropriate precautions.
Periodic inspection is recommended to maintain safety and structural integrity over time. All mounting hardware and accessories should be rated for use with treated wood poles and the intended load.
