40 Foot Wood Pole | Class 1 | Treated | Ponderosa Pine
This 40 foot Class 1 Ponderosa Pine pole is a strong choice for outdoor lighting or utility applications requiring a tall, durable mounting structure. Its CCA pressure treatment protects against decay, rot, and insects, making it well-suited for long-term use in exposed environments like parking lots, roadways, sports fields, and perimeter lighting. Direct burial installation eliminates the need for separate bases, which is practical where concrete or anchors are not feasible. The ANSI Class 1 rating ensures structural strength for mounting heavy or multiple fixtures.

Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement.
Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview
This is a 40 foot wood pole manufactured from Ponderosa Pine. The pole is pressure treated with CCA for durability and resistance to decay, termites, and rot. It is built to ANSI Class 1 standards and meets ANSI O5.1 specification.
The pole is designed for direct burial installation, with 34 feet above grade and 6 feet below grade. Minimum pole top circumference is 27 inches, and minimum circumference 6 feet from the butt is 45 inches. The pole weight ranges from 1000 to 1200 pounds.
All poles are grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. The treatment process follows American Wood Preservers Association standards.
This pole is suitable for outdoor lighting and utility applications where a Class 1 wood pole is required.
Where This Product Fits Best
This 40 foot Class 1 wood pole is used in outdoor environments where a tall, durable mounting structure is needed for lighting fixtures or utility lines. It is suitable for parking lots, roadways, sports fields, and perimeter lighting.
The CCA treatment allows the pole to withstand exposure to weather, moisture, and insects. It is appropriate for locations where long-term structural integrity is required.
Direct burial installation makes this pole a fit for sites where concrete bases or anchor systems are not preferred or feasible. The pole's size and weight support mounting of heavy or multiple fixtures at height.
Performance and Functional Considerations
The pole provides 34 feet of above-grade height, supporting high-mount lighting or utility applications. The Class 1 rating ensures the pole meets strength and dimensional requirements for demanding installations.
CCA treatment protects the wood from decay, rot, and insect damage, supporting long service life in exposed outdoor conditions. The Ponderosa Pine material is selected for structural performance and treatability.
Minimum pole top and butt circumferences provide adequate cross-section for mounting hardware and load-bearing requirements. The pole's weight and dimensions should be considered for handling and installation planning.
Installation and Long-Term Use
This pole is installed by direct burial, with 6 feet of the pole set below grade. No separate base or anchor system is required. Proper backfill and compaction are necessary to ensure stability.
Handling requires equipment capable of lifting and positioning a 1000-1200 pound pole. Site access and safety planning are important due to the pole's length and weight.
Once installed, the CCA treatment provides ongoing protection against environmental and biological factors. Routine inspection for physical damage or ground line deterioration is recommended over the service life.
How This Fixture Is Commonly Used
After installation, this 40 foot wood pole is used as a mounting structure for area lighting, floodlights, or utility lines. The 34 foot above-grade height allows for wide-area coverage and reduced shadowing in large outdoor spaces.
Operators can attach lighting fixtures, brackets, or crossarms directly to the pole using standard hardware. The treated wood construction supports reliable performance in outdoor environments with minimal maintenance requirements.
In day-to-day use, the pole remains static, providing a stable platform for mounted equipment. Adjustments or fixture changes can be made as needed using standard climbing or lift equipment.
