40 Foot Wood Pole | Class 1 | Treated | Ponderosa Pine
This 40 foot Class 1 Ponderosa Pine pole is a strong choice for outdoor lighting or utility applications requiring a tall, durable mounting structure. Its CCA pressure treatment protects against decay, rot, and insects, making it well-suited for long-term use in exposed environments like parking lots, roadways, sports fields, and perimeter lighting. Direct burial installation eliminates the need for separate bases, which is practical where concrete or anchors are not feasible. The ANSI Class 1 rating ensures structural strength for mounting heavy or multiple fixtures.

Customers are responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment or area to store poles available at the time of delivery. Please contact a sales representative prior to purchasing to ensure all the project details are clear.
Pricing: Does not include cost of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.
Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement.
Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Product Overview
This 40 foot wood light and utility pole is a Class 1 Ponderosa Pine pole for direct burial installation. It provides 34 feet above grade with 6 feet below grade.
The pole is CCA treated and manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. This configuration is used for sports field lighting layouts where a wood pole structure and direct burial installation are required.
Core Performance and Output
Structural performance is based on the 40 foot overall length, Class 1 designation, direct burial configuration, and Ponderosa Pine construction. The pole weighs 1000 to 1200 pounds.
Minimum top circumference is 27 inches, with a minimum top outside diameter of 8.6 inches. At 6 feet from the butt, minimum circumference is 45 inches and outside diameter is 14.3 inches.
The supplied data does not establish EPA ratings, wind-load values, fixture weight limits, or fixture mounting capacity. These project requirements must be confirmed before final pole and lighting system selection.
Adjustability and Control Options
This is a fixed-height, direct burial wood pole. The supplied product data does not identify integrated adjustment, control, or electrical components.
Lighting controls, wiring methods, fixture mounting hardware, and fixture aiming requirements are not included in the supplied pole specifications.
Longevity and Reliability
The Ponderosa Pine pole receives CCA treatment. It is pressure treated and preservative treated to current American Wood Preservers Association standards.
The treatment is intended to prevent damage from termites, decay, and rot. The pole carries a 1 year warranty.
Build Quality and Physical Characteristics
The pole is grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. It is manufactured from Ponderosa Pine and built to ANSI O5.1 specification.
Its 40 foot total length includes 34 feet above grade and 6 feet for burial. The tapered wood profile measures larger at the butt than at the pole top.
Where This Product Fits Best
This pole fits sports field lighting projects that require a 40 foot wood pole with direct burial installation. Its above-grade height and Class 1 construction align with field lighting structures where site-specific fixture loads and wind requirements have been established.
- baseball field lighting
- football field lighting
- soccer field lighting
- sports field lighting
- driving range lighting
- recreational field lighting
CCA treatment supports outdoor wood-pole use by addressing termites, decay, and rot. Final fit depends on the required structural loading, fixture arrangement, and site conditions.
Installation and Long-Term Use
Installation is by direct burial with 6 feet of the pole below grade. The completed installation leaves 34 feet of pole height above grade.
The 1000 to 1200 pound pole weight affects handling, lifting, and placement during installation. Pole-top fixtures, mounting assemblies, and electrical equipment must be evaluated separately because their loads are not established in the supplied data.
How This Fixture Is Commonly Used
For baseball field lighting, football field lighting, soccer field lighting, and sports field lighting, the pole provides a fixed 34 foot above-grade mounting elevation. Layouts use the pole location and fixture arrangement required by the specific field plan.
Driving range lighting and recreational field lighting layouts also use the fixed above-grade height and direct burial configuration. Fixture spacing and aiming vary with the lighting design, target light levels, and fixture selection.
Safety, Certifications, and Warranty
This pole is manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. It is pressure treated and preservative treated to current American Wood Preservers Association standards.
The warranty period is 1 year. The supplied data does not list EPA ratings, wind ratings, or fixture loading limits.
