Product Overview
This 150 Watt LED Parking Shoebox Retrofit is designed for direct replacement of 400 Watt metal halide lamps in legacy shoebox and area fixtures. It delivers high-output LED performance for exterior lighting upgrades, supporting energy reduction and maintenance-driven retrofit projects. The retrofit kit is suitable for 16-inch fixtures commonly found on parking lot poles and area lighting installations.
Typical use involves upgrading existing parking lot, site, or roadway fixtures to LED without replacing the entire housing. The kit operates on 100V-277V and is available in 5000K for daylight color rendering. The aluminum frame and compact design allow for straightforward integration into most standard shoebox housings.
Core Performance and Output
This retrofit kit produces 24,750 lumens at 150 watts, providing an efficacy of 165 lumens per watt. The Type 5 beam angle delivers uniform, circular light distribution suitable for open area coverage in parking lots and site lighting. The output level is matched for 400W metal halide replacement, supporting mounting heights typically between 15 and 30 feet.
Performance is optimized for fixtures with 16-inch housings. Excessive output may occur if installed at mounting heights below 15 feet, potentially increasing glare. At higher mounting heights, uniformity may decrease if fixture spacing is not adjusted.
Adjustability and Control Options
This retrofit kit is non-dimmable and operates at a fixed output. It is compatible with standard on/off controls and photocells when integrated at the fixture or circuit level. The Type 5 distribution is fixed and not field-adjustable.
No onboard motion sensing or advanced control features are included. Color temperature is available in 5000K, with 4000K as an alternate option if required for site consistency.
Longevity and Reliability
The retrofit kit is rated for 50,000 hours (L70), supporting long-term operation in exterior environments. The LED array and driver are thermally managed for consistent output and reduced maintenance cycles compared to legacy HID sources.
Aluminum construction and PCB design support heat dissipation and environmental durability. The product is ETL certified and meets requirements for rebate eligibility in many regions.
Build Quality and Physical Characteristics
The kit features a white PCB and aluminum frame for structural integrity and thermal management. The assembly measures 12.83 inches in length by 10.87 inches in width and weighs 6 pounds, fitting standard 16-inch shoebox housings.
Installation hardware is included for secure mounting within existing fixtures. The retrofit is designed for pole-mount applications and is compatible with most legacy shoebox and area light enclosures.
Where This Product Fits Best
This retrofit kit is intended for exterior lighting upgrades where legacy HID fixtures are being converted to LED. It is most commonly used in parking lot and area lighting retrofit projects, as well as energy upgrade and maintenance-driven conversions for commercial and municipal sites.
- fixture retrofit projects
- energy upgrade projects
- legacy fixture conversion
- maintenance-driven lighting upgrades
- parking lot lighting retrofit
- warehouse lighting retrofit
- municipal retrofit programs
- tenant improvement projects
Designed for outdoor environments, the kit is suitable for pole-mounted fixtures exposed to weather. The aluminum frame and ETL certification support use in commercial, municipal, and industrial exterior settings.
Installation and Long-Term Use
Installation involves removing the legacy lamp and ballast, then mounting the retrofit kit within the existing shoebox housing. The kit is sized for 16-inch fixtures and includes hardware for secure attachment. Electrical connection is made to the existing fixture wiring, supporting 100V-277V operation.
Long-term use is supported by robust thermal management and a 50,000-hour rated life. Routine cleaning of the lens and periodic inspection of electrical connections are recommended for optimal performance. The retrofit approach minimizes site disruption and preserves existing pole and fixture infrastructure.
How This Fixture Is Commonly Used
This retrofit kit is typically installed at mounting heights between 15 and 30 feet, depending on site requirements and pole spacing. Spacing patterns often mirror the original HID layout, but fixture count can sometimes be reduced due to higher LED efficacy and improved distribution.
In parking lot retrofits, kits are spaced to maintain uniform coverage and meet site lighting standards. Higher output may allow for wider spacing, but can increase glare if not shielded or if mounting height is low. Layout adjustments may be needed to optimize uniformity and minimize dark spots.
Safety, Certifications, and Warranty
This retrofit kit is ETL certified and meets requirements for many utility rebate programs. The product is designed for safe integration into existing shoebox and area light fixtures, with a power factor of 0.90 and standard 50/60 Hz operation.
The kit is covered by a manufacturer?s warranty. All components are rated for exterior use and are suitable for installation in commercial and municipal environments where code compliance is required.
