Product Lighting Layout Estimator
Use this estimator to calculate approximate fixture count, spacing, and average foot-candles for a simple rectangular space using the selected LED fixture. Enter your room dimensions, mounting height, target foot-candles, light loss factor, and room/layout condition to generate a preliminary lighting layout. When IES photometry is available, workplane height and room reflectance controls are shown.
Project Inputs
Estimated Results
Estimated average foot-candles are preliminary and should be verified with a lighting plan for project-critical applications.
Room / Layout Condition: This field is used only when usable IES photometry is not available. In fallback mode, it acts as a simplified room utilization factor for reflectance, fixture distribution, racking, obstructions, and how much fixture light reaches the work area. Open / light-colored spaces use 0.90, typical warehouses or shops use 0.75, racked or obstructed spaces use 0.60, and dark or complex spaces use 0.45. When IES photometry is active, this field is hidden and the estimator uses the selected workplane height, LLF, and simplified reflectance adjustment instead.
Photometry / Simulation Note: When usable IES photometry is available for the selected fixture, this estimator uses the fixture’s IES candela data, selected workplane height, light loss factor, and simplified reflectance adjustment to estimate fixture count, average foot-candles, and visual light distribution. The reflectance adjustment is a conservative approximation and is not a full zonal-cavity, radiosity, or professional photometric room calculation. When IES photometry is not available, the estimator uses a simulated beam model based on lumens, mounting height, room/layout condition, light loss factor, and beam angle.
Preliminary Estimate Only: This estimator is intended for simple square or rectangular spaces and should be used as a planning aid, not a final photometric lighting plan. Actual light levels may vary based on fixture optics, selected IES file, mounting conditions, workplane height, ceiling height, surface reflectance, obstructions, controls, voltage, installation conditions, and site-specific requirements. Project-critical applications should be verified with a formal lighting plan.
This estimate is a starting point. Warehouses, industrial facilities, hazardous locations, sports areas, schools, healthcare spaces, public areas, and code-sensitive projects may require a reviewed lighting layout before purchase or installation.
Product Overview
This 2×4 low profile explosion proof linear LED light delivers 8400 lumens from 60 watts at 5000K. It is built for hazardous location lighting where a broad 120 degree distribution and low-profile fixture body are required. The fixture supports chain-cable, recessed, and surface mounting. It replaces 250 watt metal halide fixtures in supported hazardous-location lighting layouts.Core Performance and Output
The fixture produces 8400 lumens at 140 lumens per watt with a 120 degree beam angle and polycarbonate lens. The 5000K color temperature and 70+ CRI provide a cool white output. Input voltage is 100-277V at 50-60Hz. Power factor is greater than 0.95 and THD is below 10 percent. The 8400-lumen output can be excessive in low mounting conditions where lower light levels are required.Adjustability and Control Options
This fixture supports 1-10V dimming. Dimming control wiring must be included in the installation plan when variable output is required. The standard optical distribution is 120 degrees. No alternate beam distributions are specified for this fixture.Longevity and Reliability
The rated LED life is 50,000 hours at L70. This rating identifies the point at which light output is expected to reach 70 percent of initial output. The operating temperature range is -22 degrees F to 122 degrees F. The fixture includes a 5-year warranty.Build Quality and Physical Characteristics
The fixture measures 49 x 23 x 3.7 inches and weighs 88 pounds. Its 2×4 low-profile linear form is suited to recessed, surface, or suspended chain-cable installation arrangements. The housing is rated IP66 and IK09. The fixture uses a polycarbonate lens.Where This Product Fits Best
This fixture fits classified locations requiring Class I, II, or III hazardous-location equipment and a broad linear light distribution. Its IP66 and IK09 ratings support demanding operating conditions within the listed application types.- hazardous location lighting
- paint booth lighting
- chemical processing facility lighting
- explosion proof lighting
- oil and gas facility lighting
- solvent storage area lighting
