150 Watt LED shoebox retrofit kit has a heat sink that is powder-coated white and with a white LED PCB board, it makes any conversion to LED look professional and custom by filling the light window of the shoebox fixture. It is simple to install - just like doing a Metal Halide bulb and ballast replacement. You should also remove the fixture reflector and socket, as they will not be needed. 4 tabs on the retrofit kit are adjustable to align with the holes of the existing shoebox fixture. It is designed to retrofit 99% of existing 16-inch shoebox fixtures.

    Product Overview

This 150 watt LED parking shoebox retrofit delivers 24,750 lumens at 165 lumens per watt, designed to replace 400 watt metal halide systems in existing 16-inch shoebox housings. The retrofit assembly measures 12.83 inches long by 10.87 inches wide and weighs 6 pounds.

The unit operates on 100V-277V input at 50/60 Hz with a power factor of .90. Color temperature options include 4000K and 5000K. This retrofit is not dimmable.

Construction consists of a white PCB with an aluminum frame. The Type 5 beam angle provides symmetric distribution suited to area lighting applications.

    Where This Product Fits Best

This retrofit is sized specifically for 16-inch shoebox fixtures, the standard housing dimension for many pole-mounted area lights in parking lots, storage yards, and perimeter roadways. It serves as a direct replacement path for 400 watt metal halide lamps and ballasts in those enclosures.

The 100V-277V operating range covers standard commercial voltages found in parking lot electrical infrastructure. Facilities operating on 480V systems will require voltage verification before specifying this unit.

The Type 5 distribution pattern works well for general area coverage where light needs to spread outward in all directions from the pole location rather than projecting forward along a roadway or walkway.

    Performance and Functional Considerations

At 24,750 lumens from 150 watts, this retrofit produces substantially more usable light than the 400 watt metal halide systems it replaces while drawing significantly less power. The 165 lumens per watt efficacy reflects current LED performance expectations for this fixture class.

The 70+ CRI rating is appropriate for parking and area lighting where color accuracy is less critical than in retail or inspection environments. Rated lifespan is 50,000 hours at L70, meaning the output will maintain at least 70 percent of initial lumens through that period under normal operating conditions.

This unit does not support dimming. Applications requiring occupancy-based dimming, daylight harvesting, or scheduled output reduction will need to evaluate whether constant-output operation meets their requirements.

    Installation and Long-Term Use

The retrofit mounts inside existing 16-inch shoebox housings, reusing the pole, arm, and enclosure while replacing the lamp, ballast, and associated wiring with the LED assembly. Weight at 6 pounds is comparable to original lamp and ballast combinations, so existing mounting hardware typically remains adequate.

The aluminum frame and white PCB construction support heat dissipation over the rated lifespan. No external driver enclosure is required outside the shoebox housing.

Maintenance after installation is limited to periodic lens cleaning and visual inspection of the housing seal. The 50,000-hour lifespan reduces lamp replacement cycles compared to metal halide systems that typically require relamping every 15,000 to 20,000 hours.

How This Fixture Is Commonly Used

Facilities use this retrofit to convert aging metal halide parking lot lights to LED without replacing poles or fixtures. The swap typically involves removing the old lamp and ballast, wiring the LED retrofit directly to line voltage, and securing the assembly inside the existing housing.

Once installed, the fixture operates at full output whenever energized. The 4000K option produces a neutral white appearance, while the 5000K option delivers a cooler, more blue-white tone that some operators prefer for security lighting or consistency with other site fixtures.

The Type 5 beam pattern distributes light broadly around the pole location, which works well for open lot coverage. Facilities with linear roadways or directional lighting needs may find other distribution types more appropriate.
