Product Overview
This 40-foot above grade round fiberglass pole uses direct burial installation with 7 feet embedded below grade for a total pole length of 47 feet. The pole has a 9.06-inch diameter and .382-inch wall thickness, weighing 438 pounds. Material is fiberglass with a fluoropolymer coating finish.
The pole is available in Bronze, Black, White, Gray, or custom color options. A top cap is included. Composite fiberglass cross arms are available separately in 4, 6, and 8 foot lengths.
Where This Product Fits Best
This pole is appropriate for outdoor lighting installations where a 40-foot mounting height is required and direct burial installation is preferred over anchor base methods. Fiberglass construction suits sites where corrosion resistance matters, including coastal areas, industrial facilities with chemical exposure, or locations where steel poles have shown rust or deterioration over time.
The non-conductive material makes this pole suitable for installations near electrical infrastructure or in locations where grounding considerations are a factor. At 438 pounds, the pole is lighter than steel equivalents at this height, which affects handling and equipment requirements during installation.
Performance and Functional Considerations
The EPA ratings define how much fixture area can be mounted at each wind speed. At 90 mph, the pole supports 26.5 square feet of effective projected area. At 110 mph, that drops to 13.3 square feet. At 130 mph, only 5.7 square feet is supported. These values determine fixture selection based on local wind design requirements.
Fiberglass does not rot, rust, or corrode. The fluoropolymer coating provides UV protection rated for 25 years. The material is designed to flex under wind load and return to its original shape rather than permanently deforming or breaking.
The pole does not sustain flame because fiberglass lacks a fuel source for combustion.
Installation and Long-Term Use
Direct burial installation requires excavation to accommodate the 7-foot embedment depth. The 438-pound weight is lighter than comparable steel poles, which can reduce equipment requirements for handling and setting. Actual equipment needs depend on site access and crew capabilities.
The fiberglass construction eliminates ongoing rust treatment or repainting cycles associated with steel poles. The fluoropolymer finish and UV-protective coating are factory-applied. Non-conductive material simplifies installation in proximity to electrical systems.
How This Fixture Is Commonly Used
Facility operators typically select fiberglass poles for this height class when long-term corrosion resistance is a priority or when site conditions have caused steel pole failures in the past. The flex characteristics allow the pole to bend during high wind events and recover, which affects how fixtures behave during storms but avoids permanent pole damage.
The EPA values are used during project planning to match fixture area to local wind codes. Once installed, the pole requires no scheduled maintenance for corrosion. Color selection is made at time of order and includes Bronze, Black, White, Gray, or custom options to match site standards or architectural requirements.
Safety, Certifications, and Warranty
This pole carries a 7-year warranty. The fiberglass material is non-conductive and does not sustain flame.
