We collaborated with Tamarocks, a newly established climbing and fitness center in Tamarindo, Costa Rica.
Tamarocks approached us with a new construction project for their climbing gym, requiring an in-stock lighting solution due to the advanced stage of the project.
Their goals:
- Seek a partner with technical expertise to determine optimal lighting and placement.
- Provide an optimal lighting environment for gym users.
- Avoid potential strobing effects from the lighting layout.
- Illuminate areas of the climbing walls that might be overlooked by overhead high bay lights.
Our approach and lighting plan
Our approach addressed various obstructions, typical in gym facilities, such as:
- Climbing walls protruding from the sides.
- Overhead fans installed for cooling purposes.
- Other rooms and spaces encroaching into the main climbing gym area.
To ensure uniform lighting coverage across the climbing walls, we selected flood lights strategically to illuminate areas that would otherwise remain dark. This innovative solution stemmed from the expertise of our lighting design team as they carefully planned the placement of supplemental lighting throughout the gym.

Results
Tamarocks needed the technical expertise to optimize the lighting in their facility, and the logistic support to get it delivered. They were very happy with the outcome and our customer service. Our expert, Jake Hoffman, coordinated the technical evaluation and recommended the products needed.
What we used
MLLG-LED-HBC-200-5-120 + MLLG-LED-FLD4-150-CC
